English: We have brewed on this beer on a long time and we finally think it is a should. A very majestic stout with a hint of roasted barley malt, smoke malt, coffee, some spices and to top it all a drop of rum. The beer has been seasoned on oak wood. This beer can stored many years in a dark closet or cellar, but is also ready to drink when it leaves our brewery. Buy an extra bottle and stash it for a special occasion in some years. It will develop like a god wine- only get better and better by the years.

500ml from IPB.
Appearance : Pitch black with medium foamy and creamy brown head.
Aroma : Rich sweet malt with coffee and chocolate. Light hops with light acidity. Light floral notes. Hint of sugary spirit maybe.
Taste : Rich malt with coffee and chocolate. Lots of coffee on finish with lots of hops too. Piny and resinous. Second parts of finish is maltier with coffee and chocolate. Light alcohol all along. Slightly acidic too.
Palate : Soft carbonation. Rich and full bodied. Borderline too rich for me.
Overall : Nice but a bit too much. Not much drinkability. Could have been fairly well balanced if it would have been a bit more attenuated. Still, nice malt flavors and nice hops. I can see some rum notes popping out here and there but Im not so sure it really adds something positive.

Bottle from Hkeren. Pours black with a small mocha head. A thin lacy layer of bubbles retains the whole time. Aroma hits with a slightly unpleasant tone the first seconds, somewhat like horse stable. Then wood/oak, raisins, other sweet dark fruit, milk chocolate and a bit of liquor hits the nose. Taste is pretty sweet, not that roasted, with coffee, some milk chocolate, raisins, herbal spiciness some what like herb liqueur which is a nice and unusual touch. Some warming alcohol at the end. Slightly bitter after taste. Mouth feel is smooth and carbonation is quite high, small nice bubbles. An imperial stout that focuses more on sweet and smooth flavour than roasted and aggressive tones.

Draught @ Beer Hunters. Pours opaque black colour with medium-sized longlasting espresso head. Delicate aroma of roasty malt, nice hoppy fruityness, oak, coffee and rum as undertone. Taste of wonderful roasty malt, milk chocolate, coffee and sugarcane. Full bodied, soft carbonation and smooth creamy mouthfeel. Long hoppy and roasty but not burning finish. An ecxelent imperial stout. Rum brings some nice fruityness but doesnt dominate the beer at all. Hides the alcohol very well also.

Black body with a small brown head. Strong sweet roasted aroma with coffee and, I guess, rum. Medium sweet taste, medium to heavy bitter finish. Roasted flavours, coffee, rum and well hidden alcohol. Soft, smooth and lovely on the palate. A very nice beer.

Bottle. Pours an onyx black body with a medium creamy caramel head. Nose is sweet dark malts, wood, raisins, prunes, rum, dark chocolate and hints of sugar and coffee. Taste is rum and raisins up front, then loads of coffee and dark chocolate comes in, followed by dry wooden sugary tones with some ashes and alcohol in the finish. Medium body, dry mouthfeel. Smooth carbonation. A pleasant imperial from Hornbeer.

Marstonlad (787) - Helsinki, FINLAND - AUG 26, 2012
Pours black with an impressive brown thick head. A strong, rich aroma of roasted malts, coffee, licorice, a bit of chocolate. Taste is light sweet; strong flavours of roasted malts, thick licorice, coffee, chocolate and rye pudding. Hops bring sharpness to the long, delightful finish. Alcohol is well hidden. Extremely full-bodied and thick, must be drunk very slowly. Very rich, long and varied, Imperial Stout at its best.
