COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: We have brewed on this beer on a long time and we finally think it is a should. A very majestic stout with a hint of roasted barley malt, smoke malt, coffee, some spices and to top it all a drop of rum. The beer has been seasoned on oak wood. This beer can stored many years in a dark closet or cellar, but is also ready to drink when it leaves our brewery. Buy an extra bottle and stash it for a special occasion in some years. It will develop like a god wine- only get better and better by the years.

500ml bottle from Systembolaget. Pitch black. Large and dense beige head, good lacing. Roasted barley aroma, coffee up front, peat, ash and wood. Subtle oak and mild booze. Full-bodied, silky mouthfeel, soft carbonated. Rum and oak up front in taste, not as hard roasted as the aroma, woody, bitter cocoa and creamy chocolate. Long-warming and chalky, dry finish with soft alcohol and pleasant bitterness.

Bottle to pint glass Consummation: Lots of dark chocolate up front, but then toasted malt, smoke and coffee. Finally, the taste of rum and bitterness arises. Adjunct: Very chocolaty and earthy aroma, some vanilla and molasses too; the colour is dark brown, almost black with a light brown, thin creamy head

UPDATED: FEB 10, 2017 From meny; pours pitch black with a small to medium brown head; aroma is roasted malts, cardboard, cacao, some wood, sweet syrupy; taste is medium sweet, cacao, burnt notes, some cardboard, dark sugars, bitter roasty and slightly alcoholic finish; mouthfeel is syrupy with low to medium carbonation and medium to big body; I don?t really get the rum, hides the alcohol quite well doesn?t feel like 10%

Another night, another Hornbeer. Sure, I could sit on this for years but I’m absolutely done with that mentality. Let’s go! Cocoa, dry wood, rum, ever so slight spice, coffee, vanilla. Everything is subdued but it doesn’t take effort to notice it all. The taste is pretty good. On occasion the intro is stellar, other times it comes across as an unknown. Sweet spice appears on the finish along with the puckering bitterness followed by drool. Oak, cocoa, smoke, and more smoke after a sit. I was having issues with the flavour as it was just all blended up into some unknown pile. Then I realized that this brew NEEDS to be sipped, slowly, to allow my mouth to recover from each sip. Only then was I allowed to get personal with this brew. Wood and more smoke, burnt sugar not wood. Bets better with patience. Don’t drink the sediment - it’s really shitty. I’ll take Hornbeer The Fundamental 1000 times out of 1000 before this one given the choice. Side note - I cannot wait for that DRI show in a couple of months.

Black as my soul and adequate head that vanishes rather fast. Roasted malts, figs, coffee, dark rum, oak some other earth notes and spices. Medium sweet. Quite bitter, warm and long finish. All nicely balanced.

500ml bottle pours deep black in color with a finger and a half of light brown head that settles quickly leaving no lacing on the glass. Aroma is chocolate and roasted grains with dark fruits, rum and hints of vanilla. Taste is a dark fruit and chocolate malty sweetness with a roasted grain and citrusy hop bitterness finishing with the rum and oaky notes. Medium to full bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, a well crafted stout that suits the style well and hides the alcohol well, making it relatively easy to drink.
