3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber via beer world: Been a lurker in the fridge for a few weeks.. The wife was working from home and making demands (suggestions says she) about major home improvement projects before the current bathroom remodel is even 80% complete. ARRRRGH! To the refugium of the basement with a tasty beverage says I. Pours black as a moonless prairie nigh. and the price was right at 7.99 a bomber. Quarter inch beige head. Bitter black malt begins the act strongly but is drastically upstaged by the dive of Mexican coffee bolstered with cocoa. Kinda like a sexy coffee. Slick overall body. A fine extended multiple project basement. bomber

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish, fast-dying tan head. Aroma of alcohol, licorice, roasted malt, oak, vanilla, rubbing alcohol and quite a bit of burnt toast scents. Medium to Light-bodied; Strong roasty flavours with a lot of burnt elements present, all giving way to a coffee and mostly anisey flavour that doesn’t show too well at the tail end. Aftertaste is one-dimensional with some malt, alcohol and dry oak and not much else - just a burning flavour from the burnt nuts/malt and from the pungent alcohol that shows a lot for being ’only’ 8,2%. Overall, not worth drinking, but that should be pretty evident. This didn’t do much being aged for ~1.5 years, this wasn’t worth keeping around much at all...that said, I still enjoyed sampling a local beer from Upstate New York. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from K&E Discount Beverage in New Paltz, New York on 14-June-2014 for US$8,29 sampled at home in Washington just two hours before leaving to go back up to New Paltz for Thanksgiving, on 24-November-2015.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
This was actually poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a black color with a slim one finger off white to foamy tan head that dissipated slightly and running into the beer.
The smell had black licorice up front with a light glazing of chocolate coming out as it warmed. A decent amount of vanilla and roast also enter as it warms.
The taste was moderately sweet through the black licorice and sly undercoat of baker’s chocolate. There wasn’t any aftertaste but leaves a dry semi-roasty yet grainy finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a decent carbonation about it. I would have thought the oatmeal would have displaced the carbonation but I did feel the carbonation a bit. Slight graininess runs over in the texture.
Overall, imperial oatmeal stout, interesting, could possibly do again, as a night cap, perhaps.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
(bottle - 22 oz) Dark black pour with a creamy tan head. Heavy roasted aroma with a lot of bitterness. Not much oatmeal. Flavor is much the same. Tons of bitter roasted malts and lots of coffee. The oatmeal adds a good creamy body but not much in the way of flavor.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Shared Bob’s bottle. Licorice dominates the smell along with burnt malt. Taste is mostly the charred stuff, and is a bit thing. Finishes surprisingly dry. Not a lot going on here.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 oz. bottle purchased at Dave’s Bellport Cold Beer & Soda. I saw the date on the label of 12-21-12 and figured I’d better grab a bottle before the last few disappear. Pours black with a moderate light brown head. Very pleasant aroma of coffee, chocolate, molasses, and mild roast. The flavor follows the aroma very closely with the same coffee, chocolate, molasses and mild roast. Mild bitterness at the finish. Very silky, smooth mouthfeel. Well rounded on the palate. Thoroughly enjoyable.
