I had the beer as Bayerischer Biergenuss Winter-Festbier. The color of the beer is on the vorder of dark amber and light copper. It looks nice. The beer is very clear. On top of the beer a sturdy layer of white foam is formed, that collapses with time leaving a nice white drape. The smell of the beer is a bit mild. It is not bad though. There are mainly sweet malt aroma’s. It is a bit bready. There are no malt aroma’s, like is normal for the beer type. It fulfils the descriptions of the beer style good, but it is a bit simple and mild in my eyes. The taste has the same problem. It is nice, but a bit mild and simple. The taste of the beer is quite malty. The give a nice malty breadyness and sweetness. There is a nice hoppy bitterness present. It is in good balance. The palate is good. The beer has a medium body and an almost creamy texture. Carbonation is high medium. The finish is nice and long, and the flavours dye away slowly. Good beer.

Complete name: Der Hirschbräu Winter-Festbier. Höss is written on the back label. Bottle looks simple but okay. Beer in the glass zippy, nice head. Starts malty, modest dry, some spicy hints. Light metallically notes. Finish a bit more balanced. Okay.

500ml bottle served in a tulip glass. Pours a dark amber (copper) color forming a medium and bubbled white head that dissipates quickly leaving very few spotty lacings in the glass. Smell is sweet, malty and flowery. Strong notes of caramel and Munich malts. Bubblegum and metallic hints. Slightly sweet upfront in the mouth. Very malty and crispy. Strong notes of caramel. Bready Lager style yeasts. Light grassy hops bitterness. Light body. Medium carbonation. Caramel in the aftertaste. Medium drinkability...

Wow, quite a lovely nutty aroma mirrored in the taste, good body, hints of roasted malt. Quite nice beer.

Bottle 50 cl from Bier-Bienne (CH). Bistre beer, fleeting foam and lazy crackling. Aromas of grainy malt, earth, berries, stewed plum. The taste is soft, fruity, low bitter, with hints of compote and a little caramel. Hop in final, but slight bitterness. Basic and thin. Will not warm us a lot this winter. But, at least, the label is lovely.

Flip-top 0.5l bottle from Edeka, pours a dark chestnut with a clingy beige head, malty yet faintly medicinal aroma. Good chewy body with bready malt, burnt caramel, and hints of peach and spice.
