COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark brown in color yet a clear deep ruby color when held up to the light. White to light tan color head with strong carbonation and head retention. Aroma is reminiscent of whole grain bread with mild roasted coffee and chocolate notes. Tastes of clean, roasted barley. Hops are minimal but balanced. Robust characteristics of an American Brown Ale with a dry and malty finish of an English Brown Ale.

16 oz can. Opaque dark root beer colored pour with a light tan head and good retention. No lacing. A bit crisp and thin for the style. Taste is molasses with some dark fruit. Semi acidic finish. Not bad but I was hoping for better.

Tallahassee, Fl - ABC Fine Wine & Spirits - Betton - much too busy pint can with a cartoon bear on it. Aroma is sweet, some light chocolate, hints of nuts. Pleasant brown ale flavor with some toffee accents, a touch of chocolate mousse, some earthy organic coffee. Mouthfeel is just a tad thin considering the flavor. Overall very enjoyable though.

Really bad tallboy can. Dark brown brew with a clingy light khaki head. Bit, fruity, sweet, kinda bocky aroma with some chalky notes -- smells like no brown ale I’ve ever had, but it’s appealing. This is a Scottish/Scotch Ale - I can never discern the difference even from the style guide - it’s a wee heavy. Fairly sweet, a little tannic/peaty, big dark fruit, malt forward, some raisiny notes, faintly leathery at the end. Pretty tasty. ABC Liquors, Betton.

Draft at source. Nose is light chocolate and bread crust. Taste is sweet, creamy mouthfeel with a light bready quality. Decent.

A clear reddish brown ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with herbaceous hops, dark fruit, light sulfur. In mouth, a sweet fruity malt with dark fruits, molasses, a bit watery, light off notes. On tap at Hourglass Brewery.

Growler from the brewery. Deep chocolate pour with a thick off white head. Roasted grain and chocolate malt in aroma. Taste is smooth roasted malt, touches of chocolate and floral hops. Damn. Nice session brown.

32oz growler in a tulip. pours deep brown with a beige head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, some nuttiness, and light chocolate from the malts, plus light dough and a floral hop note. Flavor the same with a nice maltiness. Average texture. A pretty good brown ale.
