[6074-20131127] Tap. Burnt candle smoke grains aroma hints at something fruitier later. Black body with a quick foamy brown head. Bitter and solid roasted wood notes in the flavour with some strong coffee hints. Full body. Very easy to drink, tasty. (8/3/8/4/17) 4.0

2013-01-21 on draught at Volo. Deep ruby-black with a solid long-lasting creamy beige/light brown head. Aroma is nice - a little sweet and lactic, very roasty, plenty of chocolate with some coffee and a bit of nutshell and light herbal bitterness, not much alcohol on the nose; smells "thick" (8-). Taste - really nice, not as "thick" as the aroma - chocolate, mild dry herbal bitterness, a touch of alcohol, not super bitter, some nutshell and green herbal character, roasty but not hugely so, and again, not sweet - not much lacto character which tantalized in the aroma. Slick, average body, airy mouthfeel, frothy, but only mildly carbonated, nutty chocolate malt up front, not much bitterness, acidity or alcohol in the medium-quick finish - quite a pleasing choco-cocoa aftertaste. My Bottom Line:jercraigs (10303) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 29, 2013
Charred roastiness blends into 90% dark chocolate flavors before resinous hops attempt to balance out this hugely malty Stout.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the blackness.
-Carbonation is relatively low, with tiny, biting bubbles.
-Mouthfeel could be softer to increase drinkability.
-The charred roastiness could be a bit too intense if you are not ready for it.
-A light acidity follows the highly roasted malt flavors.

2013-11-27. Black body with a nice tan head and lace. 4+ Aroma of mild coffee roast, moderate sweet dark malt. 7+ Flavour is moderately roasty throughout, dark malt core grows as you go. Pretty solid. Average plus bodied palate, nice carbonation. Good but a touch roastier than my preference. On tap at Volo, Toronto blankboy (7662) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 21, 2013
Draught at Volo. Pours a very dark brown with ruby hues and an average size long-lasting frothy beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, very light hops and some light dark fruit. Flavour of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate followed by light grassy hops and some light fruit. Medium bodied. A really flavorful Porter.

On cask at Volo. Pours a dark brown verging on black with frothy light brown head. Aroma is rich vanilla and chocolate, with a bit of citrus. Flavour is roasty, but quite sweet with lots of vanilla and chocolate and some c-hops. Light carbonation. Quite good. JoeMcPhee (9426) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 21, 2012
Deep black pour with a tight brown head. The aroma is quite roasty. Lots of char and a bit of blackberry as well. Some definite fruity esters on the nose that are quite lovely. A moderate bitterness and an assertive toastiness on the back. Smooth palate with a touch of sweetness rounding it out. Damn lovely beer. Would be tough to improve.
