Mistletoe pours a very dark brown black with a nice head of small firm mocha bubbles. Nose is dark chocolate and candied raspberries. Taste is a medium malt roasted goodness with some red fruit. Slight bitters. Nice silky body with very minor carbonation. Finish is a minor amount of rich earthy bitters.

bottle. very deep brown with small head. strange beer. just a hint of what you’d expect from a sour. some mild fruitiness, which doesn’t really identify as raspberry. chocolate and a very dry finish. there’s a lot of flavors here without really being flavorful if that makes any sense.

Reminds me of chocolate with raspberry filling. Really flavorful and great as a holiday drink. I was really pleased with this beer.

Bottle shared at the 9th Richmond Rare & Unusual Epic Tasting, Richmond, VA, 11/30/14. Pours a clear dark amber with no head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, bread, ginger, spice, vanilla. The taste is tart fruit, citrus, spice. Medium bodied.

Nikiel (879) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUN 20, 2014
Bottle from jay. Pours a thin dark brown with tan foam. Smells lightly sweet of vanilla, butterscotch, and a touch of dark fruit. Tastes thin with coffee, a touch of raspberries, chocolate and a mike sour.

Bottle courtesy of jcwattsrugger, I think. Pours a porter brown with a tan head. Nose is roast, coal, ash, vegetal, and earth. Flavor is similar with vegetal notes, coal, ash, and earth along with hints of berry. A weird fish; light to medium in body.

mverity (294) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAR 2, 2014
Pours a watery black with thin tan head. Medium collar. Head faded fast, some wisps remained. Aroma is hugely raspberry, some roasted malt depth. Thin body, medium carbonation; sticky mouthfeel. Taste is faintly tart, earthy malt, and a touch of berry at the end.

Bottle from bestway brought back over Christmas. Sounded interesting for sure but it falls a little flat on complexity. Totally drinkable just could be so much more. Raspberry aroma and a bit of a tart flavor from the raspberries again. Little bit of the brandy barrel but very faint. Base beer gets lost. You need something a little more full bodied so all this other stuff can stick. Unfortunately you get a bit of a thin base beer here.

jcartamdg (3520) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 13, 2014
Pours jet black with a thin off white head. Aroma of chocolate and raspberry. Taste is charred, vegetal, peaty. This is really bad.

emacgee (4704) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - DEC 12, 2013
Pops with a good bit of carbonation. Dark black pour with some color on the edges. Fizzy tan head of about two fingers. Nose shows a light berry sweetness and some barrel notes with coffee roast and a touch of acidity. Flavor shows the berry upfront with the acidity showing on the finish. Light woody notes and a slightly watery feel. Acidity seems to be cutting the mouthfeel a bit. Tannic bite on the finish.
