This is the type of ale for those who do not want overpowering taste of the chocolates and hops. I prefer the heavier ales, stouts and porters. The bottle was re sealable like a Groslch. JPDIPSO (6236) - Wauwatosa, USA - SEP 12, 2016
Clear orange to brown liquid with a small tan head. Aromas of dark bread, grain, cereal, and sweet dark caramel. Feel is a touch fizzy and metallic. Moderate sweet start. A bit acidic and sour, a sour mash flavor. 9/10

Pretty dark brown colour but not entirely opaque. Aroma and flavour have some hazelnuts and chestnuts. Easy drinking. dfearnley (2200) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 2, 2015

1litre swing-top bottle, brown-chestnut color, with a fluffy beige head, with a nice nutty, toffee, toasted, caramelized, biscuity malty nose, with some brown chocolate, french toast, faint coffee, sugar pie, dark chocolate accents, and a caramelized bread crumb, chestnut butter note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a good toasted, caramelized, biscuity, roasted malty, nutty, toffee, mild bitter brown chocolate, fruity dried fig, light coffee character, with a light burnt toast, sugar pie, burnt brown sugar, chestnut butter flavour, leading towards a fruity yeast, nutty, toffeeish, light coffee, lingering toasted, caramelized, biscuity, roasted maltiness finish. pictoman (1148) - British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 6, 2014
Poured from the tap. Dark mahogany with minimal beige head. Mild caramel and roast malts with some nuttiness. Light medium body. Simple and kinda boring. piscator34 (2539) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - OCT 2, 2014
Bottled sample. Pale brown (slightly red) in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of vanilla nougat, and toasted nuts. Fairly sweet in the mouth with more vanilla, pistachio, and toffee. You can taste a bit of roast on the back end, which translates as mild roast coffee to me. Lighter bodied than expected, in spite of all of the sweetness. Sort of a by-the-book oldschool nut brown ale. Ok as is, but far more interesting things are happening with this style now. vadie (1256) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 6, 2014
Marron foncer avec un tête marron moyen. L’arôme du chocolat et un peu de réglisse. Le goût n’as pas beaucoup de chocolat ou réglisse mais plutôt un peu d’un mélange de malt sucré avec un peu d’houblon. RichardW (1813) - Carlisle, Cumbria, ENGLAND - AUG 14, 2014
On tap at Bear Street tavern, Banff. Pours a very dark brown, in fact its nearly black. Rich vineous aroma & plenty of roast malt makes it veer into stout territory. Full bodied & exceptionally robust.
