Hard to tell from a chilled pint glass. Had a spicey nose from the smaller sample glass, more head too. Pretty dark, more than i expected offf the tap. Flavour is a bit nutty, almost a coffee but not quite at the end. Not too shabby.

Clear orange to brown liquid with a small tan head. Aromas of dark bread, grain, cereal, and sweet dark caramel. Feel is a touch fizzy and metallic. Moderate sweet start. A bit acidic and sour, a sour mash flavor. 9/10

Light sour, oat, bread, blackberry?, molasses. Dark brown, light tan head. Taste is light sour, buckwheat, chocolate, roasted malt. Not bad.

1litre swing-top bottle, brown-chestnut color, with a fluffy beige head, with a nice nutty, toffee, toasted, caramelized, biscuity malty nose, with some brown chocolate, french toast, faint coffee, sugar pie, dark chocolate accents, and a caramelized bread crumb, chestnut butter note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a good toasted, caramelized, biscuity, roasted malty, nutty, toffee, mild bitter brown chocolate, fruity dried fig, light coffee character, with a light burnt toast, sugar pie, burnt brown sugar, chestnut butter flavour, leading towards a fruity yeast, nutty, toffeeish, light coffee, lingering toasted, caramelized, biscuity, roasted maltiness finish. pictoman (1212) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 6, 2014

Bottled sample. Pale brown (slightly red) in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of vanilla nougat, and toasted nuts. Fairly sweet in the mouth with more vanilla, pistachio, and toffee. You can taste a bit of roast on the back end, which translates as mild roast coffee to me. Lighter bodied than expected, in spite of all of the sweetness. On tap at Bear Street tavern, Banff. Pours a very dark brown, in fact its nearly black. Rich vineous aroma & plenty of roast malt makes it veer into stout territory. Full bodied & exceptionally robust.
