Caramel, prune, raisin and pecans. Cloudy golden orange with a thin white head. Toffee, prunes and plum with a light bitterness that finishes light and sweet. Not as well rounded as aged bottles, but still nice.

Pours auburn, frothy head. Aroma is sugary, malty. Taste is sweet, tart, hoppy, deep, earthy. It's a bit if everything in one and it works really well. Tasty, and 10%! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A dark drink. Thin layer of foam. Oooohh, hops, dark fruit malt, alcohol, sugary edge, spices. Aroma almost as good as the flavour. Thickens nicely as it warms. A royal treat.

May 14, 2014. Bottle from LCBO. Deep chocolate brown, cloudy. Off-white head. Raisins and toffee in aroma. Big fluffy head. Lovely aroma. Sweet raisins and toffee flavours. Bit of a bite in the aftertaste. This is more mellow than I recall it being when I drank a bottle 6 months ago. This bottle was aged for about 6 months.

I have looked for this brew for over 3 years and to finally try it was incredible. The pour is a dark, muddy burgundy with a thick finger of beige head. The nose is heavily malted and rich with big toffee and caramel malts, light candied sugar and prune notes fill the void of hops both in the mid palate and the nose. The finish has a wealth of rich malty toffee notes that end in a warmth of boozy treacle notes on the finish. Overall, what a brew.

Dark brown pour, nice bit of creamy tan head. Aroma, dark fruit, caramel, brown sugar, very nice. Taste, lively carbonation, very rich, sweet caramel, followed by some mild hops, very little hint of the ABV, strange aftertaste...some herbal or something? Overall really nice aroma, nice flavour all around, but doesn’t quite nail it as a full rich barley wine, nicely done overall though.

aroma - caramel, bread, resin, alcohol, app - brown, cloudy, minimal head, taste - medium sweetness, dark fruity palate - medium body, slick feel, lively, little bitter overall - high alcohol not noticed. Pretty good balance, with the burn and the flavor. Decent effort at a tough style for a brewery that is somewhat inconsistent.

Pours dark ruby with a small beige head. Aroma is sweet caramel, barley and a small bourbon quality. Taste is resiny sweet with caramel and malt but has a hop bittrness in the back.

375ml brown bottle, 2013 vintage. Red-brown pour, small tan cap. Nose is has slight chocolate notes, brown sugar and caramel. In the mouth the beer has caramel and toffee malts, brown sugar. Finish is dry, a bit of alcohol lingers and bitterness is medium. Good.

DuffMan (10610) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - APR 18, 2014
Bottle, 2013 vintage (silk-screened label, different from the picture here). Deep red-orange colour, with an off-white finger-thick head. Aroma is sweet fruity caramel with hints of spice and booze. Sweet flavours of fruity caramel, a tad syrupy, pitted fruits lead into a very dry finish with moderate bitterness. Pithy chokecherries come to mind. Warming alcohol at the back. Nice.
