Shared 12 oz. bottle at a recent geek tasting. Poured to a sampler with a black/brown color, modest, brownish tan head foam, and wavey cling to the lacing. The aroma was roasted malt, with notes of coffee, baker’s chocolate, and light molasses sweetness. The flavor added some moderate hop bitterness and a little creaminess to the mouthfeel, but fell off dramatically in intensity compared to the nose. esjaygee (3904) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 20, 2011
Active sucker is 10pm black with a quickly fading tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, peat, anise and light coffee. Taste of dark over-roasted malts, coffee and light oatmeal. Chewy, chalky and astringent. Onslow (1497) - Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA - SEP 26, 2011
Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Inky dark brew with tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, malt. Taste starts with sweet malts, chocolate, rich coffee and transitions in the finish to burt malt / expresso / bitter chocolate. The first few sips tasted downright smokey like burnt wood, but that passed - though it was a pleasant wrap on the taste. Palate is very satisfying. Overall, an excellent stout with character and attitude. I’d buy it again and will watch for it on my travels. cubs (10636) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUL 31, 2011
Bottle @ home, courtesy of Cavie. Well carbonated, black appearance with a small brown head. Mildly roasty, oaty, light espresso, light chocolate nose. Fairly thin bodied. Oaty, light chocolate, light epresso flavor. Decent stout at best. shrubber85 (11411) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - JUL 9, 2011

Pours very dark brown with a very little bit of sediment, small amount of quickly-dissipating light-brown head. Aroma of coffee and smoke with slight sweet/chocolate notes. Medium-bodied and with a moderate amount of bitterness and an oily texture. Roasty, smoky flavor with overplayed sweetness. Fairly average overall. dtater (28) - Florida, USA - JUN 11, 2011
I really enjoyed this beer of the month in bottle. After seeing the ratings all over the board I waited another month before having another bottle just in case an unnamed IPA jacked up my palate last time. Aroma is rich sweet roast. It pours with the largest fluffy head I’ve ever seen on any beer. Taste is well balanced combo of medium sweet roast, malt & dark choclate with a nice tapered finish. Nice stout that I will drink again if I see it. cbfobes (2883) - Quad Cities, Illinois, USA - MAY 5, 2011
Poured from 12oz bottle, pours a clear dark brown with a very thin tan head, aroma is sweet with a hint of chocolate, the flavor has a touch of chocolate but has a very bitter finish, just another below average brew from Hub City. Ratman197 (14856) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - APR 18, 2011

Pours a dark brownish amber color with a tan head. There is a light chocolate note in the aroma. The flavor is dry and grainy with a moderately malty body and a bitter finish.
