I agree with lagerman. This is history in a glass. Huber inspired the brewers that make a lot of the other beers I drink.
Aroma and flavor is malts and a mix of mild/medium sweetness and mostly decent German bock character/yeast. gripweed57 (2460) - Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA - MAR 22, 2017
12 ounce bottle. Pours a translucent cola brown color capped by a small creamy beige head. Caramel malt nose redolent of marinated beef. Sweet light roasted malt flavor has a creamy mouthfeel. Lots of sweet caramel and toasted bread flavor in midtaste. Subtle hop bitterness in finish. Lacks the depth and complexity of most German bocks, but good nonetheless. DATE: February 17, 2017... OCCASION: Friday relaxing with Shan... GLASSWARE: Celebrator doppelbock pokal... pours a velvet-black body... the head folds to a thin ring of off-white cream... light roasted, punchy malts evoke chocolate and dry fruit... the body is reasonable, untextured, soft at the start and flourishing at the finish.... a beer that sips like it would be fine straight from the body, but could be okay treated in glass... grape, raisin, bitter malts, cereal grains and caramel--a toned-down 40 oz. to some degree, but less harsh...easy-drinking, lively, and weightier than the average lager, but not a bock in the power profile... not familiar with Huber, but having found this one through a mix-twelve, I am no worse for wear... leaparsons (10546) - Wigston, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - SEP 10, 2016
Bottle, Wine Tavern, Leicester. Dark brown with an off white head. Sweet, cheap cola with dark treacle. Medicinal with molasses. Oily with vegetable notes. OK. MrTipple (4968) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 17, 2016
Intense caramel malts, sweet bread and grain malts. Clear, dark brown, small, creamy, beige head. Light bitter. Toasted malts, lightly sweet, dark grain malts, soft carbonation, more toasted malts in the background. Boring Dunkler Bock, aroma is OK, palate boring. Keg at The Old Fashioned, Madison, WI.

Bottle from The Spotted Cow 100516. Found this bottle on my work travels, always a bonus. Looks great when poured into the glass, dense black colour with a swish of tan foam. Aroma reminds me of port, warm and a bit smokey and this is reflected in the flavour also. A mighty fine drip. redders1974 (1472) - Greater Manchester, ENGLAND - MAY 9, 2016
Nut brown small head caramel treacle taste very sweet one was ok wouldnt fancy a night on it though bottle from home bargains rochdale. Steffan (87) - WALES - APR 28, 2016
Aroma of caramel malts. Dark brown more like a doppelbock than a singlebock. Head dissipate very quickly, no lacing. Taste is very sweet, mouthfeel a light lingering sweetness. Just too sweet for me for a lager. Might be a good beer to introduce to females who (in my experience) tend to prefer sweeter beverages. anfractuosity (418) - - APR 10, 2016
