TAR (2787) - Blue Ridge Mountains, North Carolina, USA - DEC 12, 2013
Vom fass at Hübner Bräu in Dec. 2013: Burnished golden. Nonuniform white head. Unrefined nose of toasted grain, cookie, new mown hay, woody/herbal Spalter, and minerals. Underlying defects of cheese/yogurt, apple juice, diacetyl and wet hay. Soft prickles of carbonation. Crisp and minerally with dry edges of earthiness and new mown hay maltiness, initially. Flabby notes of wet hay and apple creep in, however, marring the otherwise well-extracted malt. Sorely lacks hop support and any herbal stiffness that might help the body’s flimsy structure. Some soapiness is present, as well. Finishes with ongoing hints of wet hay and overly coarse malt, but nicely balanced and scantly lined with herbal and grassy hop accents. A very basic and indistinctive country lager that needs to be cleaned up. The brewer informed us of the poor quality of the recent barley crop, so who knows. I will say that the bottles we had a few years ago were pretty forgettable, as well.

Nische (2512) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - DEC 10, 2013
Bottle. Clear yellow colour with a thin head. Aroma of dust, malts some citrus. Flavor is pretty thin with sweet butterscotch and light citrus. Average.

3fourths (9358) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - DEC 1, 2013
Vom fass at the brewery in Steinfeld.
Clear copper with a short white head.
Simple malt nose shows a touch of Vienna / toast / toffee / caramel.
Tinny / metallic notes, fruity apple and pear.
Sweet with low bitterness.
Watery medium-light body, little acid support, low carbonation.
After having a schnitt a few days before and finding it toasty and bready i find a pour on a return visit rather bland and apple-y with saccharine sweetness.
Very basic helles landbier.

Like drinking a cold glass of bread. Kinda nice creamy carbonation, but a little sweet. If this was warm it’d be too sweet for me. But definitely worth drinking again.

BeerViking (5041) - Brentford, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 26, 2013
Bottle, 4.9%, pours a faintly hazy brown-gold with a thin fine head. Typical Frankish malty and bready nose, sweetish in the mouth with light spicy notes and a light herbal hoppy finish. Not my favourite Vollbier.

rok1024 (1272) - Maribor, SLOVENIA - JUN 8, 2013
Dark brown orange clear appearance, medium head, overall a bit lighter than expected for the style.

Shaney (2423) - Köln / Cologne, GERMANY - MAY 31, 2013
Dunkel-gold mit feiner Krone. Blumiges Malzaroma. Sauberer heller Malzton mit Honignote umschmeichelt den Gaumen. Wunderbar weiches Brauwasser. Floraler Hopfen im Abgang. Harmonisch und süffig.
