Draft @ Stilbruch. Served in ceramic krug. Has tan head that lasts a long time. Aroma is crisp, dry, hoppy, leafy. Excellent palate has a great texture. The flavors are nice and toasty in the dry finish, which is moreish. Deceptively subtle, and has a nice hint of smoke.

Gravity cask @ Akkurat. Heavy on the malts but still refreshing with its flowery hoppiness. Notes of flour, minerals and apricots. Crazy mouthfeel and smoothness!

My Bottom Line:
Silky honey is topped with a fresh baguette crust before just enough herbal hop bitterness seals this well-rounded Helles Vollbier.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam laces nicely around the clear golden.
-Some minerals are found here and there.
-This is a very nice everyday quencher for pale malt lovers.
-That baguette crust character is amplified when the pint gets closer to room temperature.

Bottle.

rauchbier (3908) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - OCT 4, 2004
Tap, at Stilbruch in Bamberg. Amber bronze, thin but lasting creamy head and gentle fine condition. Good hoppy nose with some low sweet malt and yeast. Chewy bubblegum, crystal malt and gentle hop flavour in the mouth, sweet and chalky finish with some yeast and a pleasant tingle of hop bitterness on the tongue. Every Sunday the Stilbruch in Bamberg has a fresh barrel of this beer available.
