This year’s professionally judged 2009 award winning recipe was brewed by Michael Carver of Florence, Ky. Pours a dark brown with an off-white head. Aroma is malty and sweet. Taste is rich for a bock. Malty with a nice sweet finish. It’s a shame this sold out the first night. I really enjoyed it.

Draft at Bockfest 2010 from notes. Pours a clear dark amber color with a medium sized disappearing beige head. The nose i moderately sweet caramel malt, mild earthy notes, some bread, light earth. The flavor is actually not too bad. Toasted bread with some caramel sweetness. The toasted note linger through the finish. Very mild earthy bitterness shows up.

Draft at Bockfest 2010. Poured dark brown color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate complex roasted sweet malty aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Moderate balanced malty sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable beer.

From a bottle at 2009 Bockfest - This is a decent commercial domestic bock, sweet, fey, and cloying, but it seems to lack body and has a slightly watery finish. Another okay brew from the folks at the Lion Brewery.

3/07/2009: The recipe for Hudy Bock actually changes every year as it is based on the winning Traditional Bock homebrew from the previous year. For 2009 Hudy Bock was dark and malty with more breadiness in the flavor than actual malt. There weren’t really any hops to note in either the aroma or flavor save for a slight bitterness in the dry, slightly roasty finish. This beer has a creamy texture and a dense beige head. Overall this is a basic bock made to appeal to everybody that is easy to drink and moderate in alcohol content.
