2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Everything I don't like about double iPas is wrapped up in this one plus an off smell ( like old people's homes) ...there is an underlining citrus /lemon smell... But the flavors are muted and this beer is not a bright lively beer... An example of a bright lively double ipa would be STONES ENJOY BY ... But this based on this bottle is not worth a repeat:(

Poured from the bomber which appears to be dated 9/27/13 and that seems to line up with the first ratings of the beer so I guess it’s right. Pours slightly dark glowing orange. Taste is sweet malt, sticky, spicy hops, gritty, boozy, and dry at the end. Nice and strong has held up well after 3 years. oldrtybastrd (5003) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 8, 2016
Pours a deep dark orangish amber color. Aromas of big hop action, sweet malts, and more hops. Flavor has some bready maltsy tastes with nice grapefruit and floral hop taste. Lowe1983 (1622) - Dayton, Ohio, USA - MAY 1, 2016
Pours an amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is floral hops, caramel malts, and some alcohol. Flavor is similar with plenty of bitterness and alcohol warming. alexsdad06 (10663) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - APR 1, 2016
22 oz. bottle picked up locally. Pours a clear orange amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have pale toasted malts, caramel, grass, leafy hops, light citrus, peppery spice, there is an off metallic note to this, the hops seem a bit faded and I’m not sure about the age of the beer, did not meet expectations. halfonit (1393) - Fall River, Massachusetts, USA - FEB 6, 2016
Served in a snifter. Pours a clear deep golden amber color with an off white head. Aroma is of hops, earthiness, bread, grass, a little booze, and some malt. Great smelling brew! Heavy and carbonated palate. Flavor is of fresh earthy hoppy goodness. Some dough and oak is also present. A little heat from the higher abv. Leaves an earthy hop finish. Great beer!!!

Pours hazy copper with a quick off white head. Nose is very sweet and malty with modest hops. Hops come out quickly on the front with a fast fade to sticky sweet. character is almost more like a barleywine than an IPA but it’s a good beer. Weevo (176) - Indiana, USA - JAN 1, 2016
Beer Club 22oz. bottle. Pours amber with thick white head. Floral and hops. Not a bad beer, but a little too hoppy for my taste.

Aroma - has an alcohol sting, slight acetone quality, sweet biscuit and floral/resin hop.
Appearance - body is slightly hazy orange, with an off-white head about 2 1/2" settles into a foam. With swanky lacing.
Taste - is chock full o sweet biscuity malt, some caramel, and a smidgen of citrus. The hops are floral in nature.
Palate - there is light to medium body, a slight bit of oiliness, the carbonation is more near the soft end, the finish is tangy - with only a bit of bitter. Noticeably abrupt. corby112 (2804) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 18, 2015
Pours a slightly hazy, dark golden amber color with apricot edges and a frothy, two finger white had that very slowly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Very good retention with sporadic streaks of soapy lacing left behind. A little darker than expected but otherwise looks pretty good.
Earthy, floral hop aroma with grassy pine and oily resins countered by a sweet caramel malt backbone. The hop profile is lacking in balance and could use a touch of sweetness to counter the earthier, piney notes. Strong caramel malt presence with hints of toast, toffee, roasted nut and subtle dark fruit character.
On the lighter end of medium body with some dry, earthy bitterness that lingers over the prominent malt backbone into a bone dry finish. Sticky and resinous with some straw and soil-y grass flavor along with some pine needle and spruce tip but overall, the hop presence is one dimensional and pretty weak. The malt presence is much stronger than expected/preferred making this beer taste more like a tame American barleywine. Slightly toasted with some leathery malt, caramel sweetness, toffee and toasted bread. Subtle alcohol and dark fruit sweetness in the finish. The high ABV is decently masked but the lack of balance and strong malt flavors hurt the drinkability of this beer. Not bad but disappointing for the style. hotstuff (5233) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - NOV 1, 2015
Rated on 9-11-2015. This bottled beer forms a very small beige head that mostly diminishes, hazy amber body, slow rising carbonation, and very little lacing. The aroma of this beer is pine hops, light citrus hops, grapefruit, earthy, spicy, and malt. The flavor is pine hops, earthy, spicy, and caramel malt. The mouthfeel is light carbonation and this beer is medium bodied. This beer is very drinkable with a good flavor. It is worth trying and definitely a beer that I would partake in again.
