Bottle at Brian’s 30th shindig. Dark brown pour with a cream colored head and big lacing. Aroma is caramel, a little booze, distinct juniper lingering in the background. Taste is more complex: caramel malt, earthy hops, rye, juniper, some light wood. An extremely interesting brew, and one I’d probably like to try again on a more sober evening.

TorbenJensen (1517) - Valby, DENMARK - JUL 3, 2015
This ale is brewed with juniper and have a beautifully renewable foam. It has the characteristics of an amber ale with dark caramel malt in the main theme embossed with a slightly spicy tang of juniper. Let the sweetness of malt and a rapidly growing spicy bitterness where juniper is very evident. At the end comes a somewhat distinctive bitter end as probably not be attributed solely to the hops, but surely also juniper vessel profits. Lovely and delicate ale which can be recommended.

StilleStorm (1514) - Stavanger, NORWAY - FEB 21, 2014
DWG; Pours hazy amber with a large frothy, deminishing, leaving lacing off-white to tan head. Nose is roasted malty, caramel, dark berrys, dried fruity, nutty and spicy. Taste is moderate sweet and bitter. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Bendrixian (1514) - Canadiana, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 22, 2014
Malty, caramel and stewed fruit aroma with sweet fruity notes and fairly complex aroma that seems to get more fruity as it opens up. I like the way the brew also takes it time delivering all the flavours. Man, just impressed and this brew is a good time.

Aroma is full and nuanced. Roasted licorice, citrus, pine, dark chocolate, roasted toffee. Dark red/brown to black. Beige head leaves lacing. Taste has same elements as aroma but not as much roasted, coffee also, pine flavor in finish, full and round, dry finish. A really good finnish beer that I can warmly recommend.

4.2
Heathen (1500) - Wilmington, Delaware, USA - DEC 14, 2009
THOUGHTS: It reminded me a little of and ale version of Samichlaus. Very nice. A little like Mad Elf, too. It was one of those great beers that I can’t fully explain the reasons why I like it. It was like fruit juice, liquor and beer mixed together. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, light to medium reddish cola with an average to large, tan head that mostly diminished, but kept a nice sheet and left good lacing. The aroma was moderate, dark bread, caramel and wood, some spicy yeast; berries, cola, a little vanilla, hint of smoke, and a fruitiness that must have been the juniper. The initial flavor was rather sweet; while the finish was sweet and bitter with a long duration. There was fruit, malty caramel, dark bread, toasted malt, a little smoke, slight whiskey and port, a little cola, hints of chocolate, toffee and a hint of hops. It almost seemed like with was barrel-aged. The medium body was sort of creamy yet oily, too; and it got a little syrupy sticky by the end with soft carbonation and a lightly dry and slightly alcoholic finish.

KoNrRiI (1491) - Århus, DENMARK - DEC 2, 2013
0.5 bottle. Clear, dark crimson color with a small, latte-colored head. Aroma is sweet and dominated by malts but there is also some toast, liquorice, and dark fruits. Taste is quite bitter I would even describe it as heavy, has some smoky notes, malts, spices, alcohol and a whole lot of juniper. Medium to full body, oily texture, and soft carbonation. Finish is bitter and a tad astringent as well, first, brief sensation after swallowing are rather hop but then it rapidly becomes more malty with a strong, uncanny taste of juniper. Definitely a beer with a character!

3.2
Nordcore (1452) - Lyngen alps, NORWAY - DEC 22, 2010
Bottle 50 cl. Deep deep red, clear with a minimal head. Aroma; Fruity, plumb and a bit sour, choccolate after a while. Taste; medium bitter, again with dark fruits sence, chocolate came when the beer got warmer.

2.4
wunderbier (1434) - Tampere, FINLAND - NOV 20, 2010
{thoughts} Slight unfocused and astringent, thinly textured; firmer malts might pull this beer together, eliminating its vacillating nature.

{elements} Brilliant, deep maroon hue; light tan froth quickly recedes into a scattering of suds. Aroma is erratic --toasty with light toffee blending into a dusty and lightly musky plum element with piny and licorice accents. Spicy upfront with a moderate sweetness tucked away, fruity and berry-like acidity; finishes like fruit punch. Light green tea astringency, watery texture, moderate carbonation, medium body. 50 cl bottle, best before 01.09.2012.
