Bottle. It pours an almost clear, copper colored body under a small, light beige head. The aroma has bread and toffe dominating, both quite weak, and there’s also a light spiced touch. Licorice, bread, caramel and some herbal thing in the flavor, a nice herbal and licorice touch finishing it all. Medium to full body, semi-dry on the palate. An unusual and quite pleasant beer. 130508

Cask (Gallows Bird, Espoo, Kekri2009)
Huge spicy fruity aroma - strawberry and plenty of aromatic hops too. Deep copper, small head. Rich bitter body, carbonation low. Barky bitterness, some saccharine. Tangy and a bit drying. Certainly better than the keg version, but hasn’t wowed me as much as I had oped. Covers 7.3% very well. the finish is very junipery, and spicy. Full-flavoured, but clean.

Keg (Gallows Bird, Espoo, Kekri 2008)
Rich reddy brown, tight off-white head. Sweet aroma of rotting fruits, including banana. Big bold taste - loads of medium-roasted malt, quite brown-ale-like, and plenty of bitterness. Smooth silky mouthfeel. A little more of the sour fruits and berries. Decent burntness. Long bitter and burnt finish. Slightly too ’keggy’, I’d like to see a real ale version of this. However, it’s a touch unsophisticated - seems geared for the American market which cares less about delicate details.

UPDATED: MAY 15, 2016 Draught. Creamy malt aroma. Cloudy brown colour. Small stable creamy tan head. The flavour is malty with a good alcohol bitterness. Hint of bread. Spicy hoppiness. 7 3 7 3 17

Bottle, 7.3%. Spicy aroma, smells like old cardamom or something, not that it is unpleasant, but still. Seemingly clear dark red/brown colour. Small whitish head. The flavour is papery with a spicy note. Tastes like red berries to me, but it is probably juniper. Papery nose and finish, but with a good bite, sort of like hop bite or ginger bite. 7 3 7 3 15

Bottle - Dark malt, dark fruit and a touch of spice. Hazy copper brown with a light brown head. Spicy brown sugar and raisin, with a nice bitterness to cut the sweetness. Light herbal notes but very well done and enjoyable.

Bottle from Liquid Solutions. Pours dark ruby with a fluffy beige head. Smells quite evergreen with underlying notes suggesting a quad. Medium body with smooth, frothy carbonation. Flavor has some chocolate, and dark malt. Hints of dark fruit. The evergreen isn’t here. Suddenly it is. Something like a quad with evergreen. Quad on my brain. Finshes rather dry. My mouth is just curling around this stuff. Like it.
