Bottled. Amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is bread, big fruity hops and some zest. Flavour is zest, frutiy hops and some caramelmalts. Some breadish hints also there. Not very much Christmas in it, but otherwise it’s a very good quality bitter. lada66 (67) - Savonlinna, FINLAND - JAN 19, 2007
UPDATED: MAY 27, 2008 A season ale that´s been available in 2006 and 2007. There´s no differences between two vintages. A moderate bitterness gives it a good long finish. Only in bottle. NYHarvey (2153) - New York, New York, USA - MAY 4, 2007
Courtesy of oh6gdx. Thanks, Pat. The aroma smells of slightly tart hearty bread. A bit like sourdough really, but with faint fruity notes. The body is orange/brown in color and holds a diminishing tan head that leaves very clingy lace. Dry bready fore is slightly toasty. Medium bitterness. Nice motuhfeel for the style. Toasty grains int he finish. Pretty nice brew from a quality brewery. maeib (8749) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - AUG 7, 2007

This is a Christmas brew from the micro brewery of Savonlinna. Name means "Good Thomas". Thomas is celebrated every year the 21st of December and it is said that "Christmas arrives with Good Thomas".
Red ruby color, nice creamy off-white head and lace. Lightly hoppy and nutty aroma with hints of horse blanket. Medium-bodied with crisp carbonation in the beginning. Good nutty malty palate, mild citrusy English hops. Mild hoppy and malty aftertaste. Suprisingly full for being only 4.1%. No Christmas connection found ...
Bottled, thanks oh6gdx! Clear ruby, small head. Unusual strawberry aroma. Fairly sweet with clean rounded mouthfeel and light-medium body. Doughy malt, hay and dark cherries domintes. Finishes with average bitterness. Quality beer, as expected from Huvila. drewbeerme (3921) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 9, 2008
UPDATED: MAR 17, 2008 bottle. i’m not sure what is going on with me and this brewery as i’ve received this and another bottle recently (both rated poorly) and they both had this wonderful and surprising wild yeast house flavor that i just couldn’t deny loving. since i know nothing about this brewery i’m not sure if this was intentional or not but this brew had a lovely acidic, slightly lactic, sourness to it with a touch of toasted biscuit. easy drinking and thirst quenching. both of the beer i had were great and i wish i had them in my regular line up. mirjukka (752) - LOHJA, FINLAND - MAR 12, 2009
bottle 500ml from CM Sello shared with FatPhil & Anna at LLBF 161108 late evening hours.. dark red brown Taste: from first sip kick of hops and Christmas spices pleasant session beer. SaintMatty (7522) - Uppsala, SWEDEN - JUN 15, 2009
500ml Bottle - Hazy copper coloured. Hoppy aroma with grapefruit, toffee and some spicy malt notes. Well balanced, hoppy and malty taste with grapefruit, caramel and spicy element, which is more noticeable in the finish. A tasty beer with plenty of flavour and balance. sayravai (4711) - Helsinki, FINLAND - NOV 28, 2006
UPDATED: DEC 14, 2006 (Bottled) Slightly hazy, dark nutty brown color with a medium, tight and bubbly-foamy, lacy head. Buttery-toffeeish, fruity aroma with some fresh hops in the background. Toffee-malty, buttery flavor with grassy-flowery hops. The latest sample had dry ashiness, and a raspberry stone finish quite similar to Joutsen. Medium-bodied, medium-carbonated palate (ashy-rough in the latest one). A quite nice brew considering the ABV - can’t see the Xmas connection, though. The bottles seem to vary in quality, as the latest one had much less fresh hoppiness than the two I’ve sampled before.
