COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Huvila X-Porter has a deep black appearance with a brown head. Creamy, slightly nutty, smooth chocolate malt nose. The taste is similar to its nose but also allows the taste of toffee to come through. The after taste then turns more chocolate with toffee. This is a rarity as not many top-fermented Baltic Porters are made any more. Our “hero” at the San Diego Int’l Beer Festival 2010! It is available on tap and in bottles in bars and restaurants across Finland. Since 2011, Huvila X-Porter is also available in shops in Estonia through Drink Baar. Last, but not least, Huvila X-Porter is also imported into the US through Shelton Brothers. Name has since changed to Malmgård X-Porter.

RBESG 2017, sampled on July 23, 2017 @ St. Urho’s Pub, Helsinki. Pours dark brown, beige foam on top. Nose has some slight roast, soy and some additional green stuff I cannot put my finger on. Tastes sweet, roasty, nice dry finish. Decent stuff, not too sweet overall.

Pours a black body with a huge creamy beige head that looks like it belongs on a cappuccino. The aroma is dark chocolate, cocoa nibs, roasted malts and raisins. The taste is staring off sweet with notes of strong dark, dry chocolate, 80%, coffee and brown sugar. Dry bittersweet finish. Very dry indeed — almost as if you’ve got flour on the tongue. The aftertaste is more on the sweet side as it warms. Sticky on the lips. Mouthfeel is oily and dry. Medium body. Soft carbonation even if it generated a massive head.

500 ml. bottle split by 3 as "Huvila X-Porter". Dark brown, low black hue, tanned head that quickly fizzes away. Nose is faint sourish red berries, licorice, herbal, sweet licorice, faintly metallic,... Taste is fizzy, bit thin, herbal, licorice, some red fruit, cacao, overall rather thin, dry, bit fizzy,... About okay, slightly flawed old school UK porter. Body is thin, fizzy, carbonation bit too high. Above average for a Finish beer.

Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass: Blackish brown beer. Beige head. Nose of subtle roast with malt roar, coffee tones, some chocolate, toffee and caramel... Flavour is roasty with chocolate, bitter, toffee, caramel, dried leaves and wood, chocolate beans... Aftertaste is bitter, malty, light chocolate... Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, medium bodied. Very decent beer!

Backlog. Synchronizing with notes and Untappd.
Chocolate, coffee, prunes, raisins, roasted malts. Black body with tan head. Coffee bitterness on a medium level but lingering for a bit too long for my taste. Rather full, medium body, medium carbonation
