COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Huvila X-Porter has a deep black appearance with a brown head. Creamy, slightly nutty, smooth chocolate malt nose. The taste is similar to its nose but also allows the taste of toffee to come through. The after taste then turns more chocolate with toffee. This is a rarity as not many top-fermented Baltic Porters are made any more. Our “hero” at the San Diego Int’l Beer Festival 2010! It is available on tap and in bottles in bars and restaurants across Finland. Since 2011, Huvila X-Porter is also available in shops in Estonia through Drink Baar. Last, but not least, Huvila X-Porter is also imported into the US through Shelton Brothers. Name has since changed to Malmgård X-Porter.

UPDATED: OCT 27, 2016 Bottle from Alko, Helsinki (as Malmgård X-Porter). Pours black with a medium-sized beige head. The aroma displays nicely roasty maltiness with notes of coffee, salted licorice, chocolate and also a hint of smoke – rich and refined. Taste is dryish, heavily roasty and as a pleasant surprise, in the finish also light bitter; very smooth mouthfeel with a warming presence of alcohol in the background. Flavours of rye bread, coffee, licorice and chocolate. Medium to full bodied palate. Deliciously rich, full-bodied and balanced Baltic Porter. On par with the legendary Sinebrychoff Porter, in my opinion.

Bottle [probably thanks to VastActiv from Euro Secret Summer Santa] @ home. Opaque dark brown to black color, medium to full sized beige to light brown colored head that lasts for a decent while and leaves fair to good lacing. Aroma and flavor are malts, a bit nutty, nice fairly soft coffee, moderately roasty, light dark chocolate, nice chocolate roast bitter finish. Medium body, suitable soft carbonation. Lovely beer, absolutely delicious!

RBESG 2017, sampled on July 23, 2017 @ St. Urho’s Pub, Helsinki. Pours dark brown, beige foam on top. Nose has some slight roast, soy and some additional green stuff I cannot put my finger on. Tastes sweet, roasty, nice dry finish. Decent stuff, not too sweet overall.

Pours a black body with a huge creamy beige head that looks like it belongs on a cappuccino. The aroma is dark chocolate, cocoa nibs, roasted malts and raisins. The taste is staring off sweet with notes of strong dark, dry chocolate, 80%, coffee and brown sugar. Dry bittersweet finish. Very dry indeed — almost as if you’ve got flour on the tongue. The aftertaste is more on the sweet side as it warms. Sticky on the lips. Mouthfeel is oily and dry. Medium body. Soft carbonation even if it generated a massive head.
