COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Artevelde Grand Cru features a dark red-brown colour, a firm, creamy, and cream-coloured head. The smell of roasted malt, caramel and the sweet fruitiness of the alcohol give this beer the perfect aroma. Caramel, sweet fruitiness and a pleasant bitterness are the predominant flavours. Its aftertaste reveals a pinch of toffee and date. Ingredients: water, barley malt, hops, yeast. Triple fermented.

2003 Vintage from Sam the Beer Man. Bottled opened with little carbonation, poured out into glass with inch cream colored foam that slowly dissipated, leaving only a thin ring around the glass. Appearance is dark mahogany, murky; the color of water from a rusty pipe. The aroma is red sauce (canned tomato paste) and candi sugar, although both are not intense, perhaps because of its age. When taken the beverage is warm in the mouth, tasting sweetness from candi, a bit of coriander spice and toasted caramel malt. Aftertaste is dark fruitcherries noted from the top, and definitely the pit of plum as it washes down. Both alcohol and musty yeast are present in the taste, however for its strength that alcohol taste is surprising; the blood-like must seems to be common to the Family Huyghe Brouwerij (Delirium Noel). Enjoyed in Goblet. On a side note, watch out for Boise State Broncos in 07!

From old tasting notes. Nice mahogany red color topped by a thick tan whipped cream head. Rich roasted malt aroma. Earthy roasted malt flavor hints at caramel and currants. Satisfying flavor is full bodied and complex. Mild hops come through in finish.

Huge beige frothy head disappeared immediately leaving just a reddy brown , effervescent body. Caramel, brown sugar aroma. Medium body, slight tingle on the back. Malt, caramel, brown sugar - thats about it. Totally Non-Descript

Ciemno brązowe. Piana bezowa, drobna, dość obfita, ale opada. W aromacie nuty owocowe. Ciekawe słodkawe nuty kwiatowe. W smaku skrka od chleba, lekko słodkawe. Znw owoce. Dość wytrawne. Są nuty kojarzące się z koźlakiem. Wychodzi alkohol. Przeciętne.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear reddish brown with a medium yellowish off-white head and an aroma of toffee, sweet malts, ripe fruits, yeast, nutmeg and cinnamon. The tast is medium sweet with fizzy carbonation and some slight bitterness in the finish.

Robe ambre surmonte dune mousse ivoire moyennement persistante.

33cl bottle from Hopduvel, Ghent. A deep reddish brown colour with a billowing beige head that settles back to a thin covering; sour grainy aroma with some caramel in the background; soft and smooth in the mouth with a taste of dates and burnt sugar; then a warming fruity finish, with lingering dates. A pleasant beer to sip slowly.
