Bottle from The Beer Junction, SeattleFerris (17070) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 25, 2015
Hazy brown color, small head. American Barley Wine aroma; perfume, leafy hops, rum, vanilla and oak cask. Medium body; moderately sweet; it has caramel flavor with bourbon accents, and quite boozy in the final.
Nice, not great.
Bottle - Vintage 2012 - Raisin and sweet brown sugar with oxidation. Cloudy brown with a decent beige head. Sweet and light oxidizer ion, raisin and bitterness. Past its prime. maxwelldeux (4433) - Snohomish, Washington, USA - DEC 7, 2014
Bottle, brewed 2012.03.15. Listed at 10.1%. Pours a cloudy reddish brown color with a moderate tan head on there. Nose seems pretty hoppy, and seems like it has some stale grass to it, along with a bit of boozy caramel underneath. Taste is little sweet up front, but has a bitter finish more in line with a DIPA. Decent drink, but not great for the style. hopscotch (11411) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - AUG 9, 2014
Bottle... Cloudy caramel-colored pour with no head. Olfactory highlights include toffee and praline. Medium-bodied with barely sufficient carbonation. The flavor is thin and boring, accompanied by weak notes of lightly sweet toffee and caramel. Watery, mildly sweet finish. Although mundane, I appreciate the opportunity to try this. Nice balance, if nothing else. beastiefan2k (4179) - HdG (past: NYC, KS, Rain City), Maryland, USA - AUG 7, 2014
Aged 12oz bottle purchased at the brewery (thus, assuming appropriate storage). Bottled 3-2012. As soon as the cap hisses I can smell the toffee rich alcoholic strong beer. Aroma is just slightly astringent. A hint of cherry astringency. A soft cardboard. Flavor is similar but has a long dry bitter astringent finish. Pretty decent barley wine for a big (an not much else) brew.

Bottle brewed on 3/15/2012, 10.1% ABV. Pours a light brownish amber color with sudsy beige foam. Mostly caramelized sugars, dark fruits and malt in the aroma with a bit of honey in the background. The taste starts with caramel, raisin and toasted malt flavors that lead to notes of orange citrus, resiny hops and vanilla. Mild creaminess in the body along with low carbonation and a dry, malty finish. Straightforward American style Barley Wine with pretty good balance overall. improvjock (328) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUL 25, 2013
Bottle. Well over a year old (sticker says it was brewed 03/12/12). Pours a dark cloudy brown with minimal tan head. Low carbonation. Very complex aroma with brandy, figs, licorice, and brown sugar. You can really taste the alcohol, this is a strong one. Flavor is pretty malty, with dark fruits and a bit of sourness. Very heavy. This is not my normal style, but it’s good stuff. egajdzis (6830) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 10, 2013
Murky red brown color with a small, off white head. Aroma of dark fruits, caramel, light oxidation, pine, vanilla, and some alcohol. Taste of nice dried fruits, raisins, caramel, light vanilla, tobacco and oxidation / lt alcohol finish. Alphadelic (2249) - Portland, Oregon, USA - FEB 5, 2013
2011 bottle at Stumbling Monk: obviously old, a little cardboard and heavy fruit. Dry-ish, some sugar and residual heat in the throat. I’d drain pour it if someone hadn’t paid $8 for it.
