same firm malt body and same pungent bright and highly bitter hops, but more of dried orange flesh cereal grains and a touch of medium dark
caramel malt. still pretty enjoyable. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - FEB 5, 2011
22. Pours an opaque dark brown with a dense, creamy tan head. Lots of layers of dense sedimentary ringed lace all the way down the glass. Big toasty caramel nose, lots of brown bread and toast. Tangy grapefruit showing plentifully as well. Creamy medium body, gets a little watery here and there, low carb. Brown bread, toast, molasses, and lots of grapefruit on the mid-palate. Interesting profile and not a very common take on winter beers. This one could be a grower over time and testing.

Bottle:   Dark brown sugar in color, odd for an IPA, small to moderate frothy sandy head, spotty lacing.   Moderate hop nose, somewhat assertive tea like leaves, a little ashtray much like a Best Bitter would have.   Pith and peel citrusy start, soft tea leaves, a little tobacco, with that bit of Best Bitter ashiness to follow.   Not real bright, but clean despite the bit of ash.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Soft citrus bits linger.   Decent enough for a Winter IPA. blutt59 (6599) - Dallas, Texas, USA - MAR 13, 2012
bottle, thanks to bu11zeye, muddy amber color with malty caramel nose, hoppy tangerine and clover flavors earthy malted finish riversideAK (6265) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - FEB 20, 2012
Nose of floral and piney hops initially, caramel, toasted nuts, and roast. Definitely a winter warmer style as previously mentioned. Murky brown pour, fizzy head that has some staying power. Flavors of roasted and toasted nuts, caramel, dough, earthy bitterness, hints of citrus and pine. Lingering hop presence balances out with doughy medium sweet finish. Spicy lingering hop flavors. Not bad. thirdeye11 (6162) - Dallas, Texas, USA - FEB 17, 2013
