COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Old sour beer is blended with sweet young beer before bottling to create a beer with a sour nose, sweet taste, and a slight sour aftertaste. Ichtegem’s goes great with shrimp or can also be used to marinate various kinds of meat in.

Previously at 5.5% ABV.

marcus (10346) - Sacramento, California, USA - APR 26, 2010
Pours dark brown with lots of dark floaties and a thin disappearing beige head. There is a moderately frangrant smoked malt aroma. It’s too sweet for an oud bruin, but there is a substantial dark malt presence.

pivnizub (10672) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - APR 5, 2010
Bottle: Clear, some floaties visible, ruby-amber coloured; light to moderate fruity-sourish nose with a touch of aceto balsamico, caramel included; light to moderate sourish-sweetish flavour, light bodied; caramel, maybe artificial sweeteners and a tinge of vinegar in the short sweetish-sourish finish. Pleasant, easy-gouing.....

oldrtybastrd (5003) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - APR 1, 2010
Pours a reddish brown color. Aromas of dark fruit, yeast, and a touch of wood. Flavor is tart, yeast, wood, not as sour as I would like. Kinda Blah.

Travlr (25269) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - JAN 7, 2010
Bottle at Strijdershuis in Bruges, as we drank our way through the Strubbe range. Dark maroon and brown with a big fluffy white head that settles slowly to leave a delicate lacing. Aroma of dark fruit and roasted malts. Flavors of light smoke and toffee with sourness from the middle to the finish. Decent enough body. Good example of the style, pleasant and drinkable.

BVery (10609) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - DEC 30, 2009
Bottle (small sample). Brown pour. Complex nose - main element is fruit. Taste starts out fruit then moves to something else - kind of funky and hard to describe.

Parket (586) - Bruges, BELGIUM - NOV 19, 2009
bottle @ brugsch beertje, dark reddish colour with white head. Fruity smell. Taste: sour, sweet, fruity, dried plums, raisins. Nice but not spectaculair palated beer.

madmitch76 (25009) - , Essex, ENGLAND - NOV 11, 2009
10th May 2008. A brown beer that reminds of Duchesse Du Bourgogne but is much less sour and really quite sweet. Soft mid finish with a hint of sweet coca cola.

Bottle, 2007-07-12, Sweden Colur. Red! Flavor sour cherries, cholcolate, carmel

CanIHave4Beers (4188) - Pouring Bus, Iowa, USA - OCT 12, 2009
Pours a nice ruby color with a small espresso swirl. The aroma is tart and musty while mildly fruity. The flavor is winey and mildly sour with some cranberry, nice but a little off.

JK (6202) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA - OCT 1, 2009
The description sounds awesome, but this beer just isn’t very good. Some oak and malt, with a little sugar, but more of a dry-oak flavor than anything else. What flavor there is, is very light. Thin palate. Disappointing.
