As the frigid water of Icicle Creek tumbles down the canyon, pouring over boulders, churning in eddies, foam and froth billowing from beneath, it dreams of one day becoming the greatest beer ever. A German Style Ale that delicately balances subtle fruit flavors and aromas with a subdued maltiness, a beer that’s fresh like an alpine spring and as crisp as a mountain breeze. It dreams of brewing up to be the refreshing Khaos Kölsch.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear yellow color with a medium white head. A light grainy fruity nose. The flavor is sweet pils malt, honey, perfume. Solid. Clean.

Sarlacc83 (2430) - Portland, Oregon, USA - OCT 23, 2015
Draft at the brewery. A: Clear straw color with a few bubbles. No lacing. N: Straw, corn, earth, minerality, peppercorn, grains, and grist. T: Sweet but lightly so. No real bitterness of which to speak. M: Light body, no alcohol, soft carbonation. O: Better than the pilsner by far. A pretty well-rounded kolsch. Not quite up to Upright’s standards, but still enjoyable.

Draft - Light grains and lemon. Clear gold with a nice white head. Grains and citrus sweetness and a touch of banana bread in the finish.

Draught in a flight at the brewpub. I normally like this style, but not this particular beer. Nose was dirty to me, and had the typical lager/kolsch smell to it. Taste was much the same, and devoid of substance. Don’t really care for this.

after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - FEB 16, 2013
Draft at airways. Pours a crystal clear medium gold with tons of nucleation columns and a loose white head. Nice clean soft corn nutty nose. Creamy light-medium body with lively carb. Softly toasty corn nutty mid palate with a clean and light herbal finish.

riversideAK (6265) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - FEB 9, 2013
Nose of bread, light wheat notes, a little grass and earth. Pours golden, thin white head. Flavors of grain, bread, a touch of wheat, a little fruity sweetness, and a light noble hops presence. Nice clean drinking beer with pleasant soft sweetness.

Dogbrick (14290) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - SEP 23, 2012
Sample at the brewpub. The beer pours a clear yellow-gold color with a medium foamy white head that diminishes slowly. Sticky patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, grassy hops and fruit. Light-bodied with flavors of hops, biscuit malt and sweet fruit. The finish is mildly bitter with a lingering grassy hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Aubrey (3516) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - FEB 14, 2012
UPDATED: FEB 15, 2012 Draft at brewery: Light and refreshing thirst-quencher. Fluffy white head above a pale golden hue. Lively carbonation. Light malt flavors of grain and crackers. Very mild herbal bitterness. Pleasant background esters of apples and pears. Finishes clean and dry. Good lawnmower beer.
