COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A smooth, clean, golden lager, with a light-medium body. Defined by a slightly sweet, malty profile, Pilsner malt flavors dominate, balanced with a subtle hop flavor. This style of lager, Munich Helles, was created in 1895 and has become one of the most popular styles of beer in Bavaria. A blond beer exuding a deep, malty character with a smooth finish. Served in a German crafted Maximilian .4L tankard.

Draft pour pint at Icicle. Not retired I guess. Pours a clear shiny golden color with a thin fizz head. Near absent aroma with straw. Light lager, pencil reminders, straw notes. Corn late palate. Not bad.

Laag bier, een beetje Duits achtig. Weinig of geen schuimkraag. Wel lekker om te drinken.

Nose of bread, light to moderate sweet maltiness, and a soft noble hop presnce. perhaps a touch of apple. Pours golden, thin head that settles to not much of anything. Flavors of bread, soft malty sweetness, a little noble hop and a touch of green apple. Carbonation could probably have fit to be a little more assertive. Meh.

Sample at the brewpub. Pours a clear golden color with a medium foamy white head that evaporates steadily. Spotty lacing. Aroma of herbal hops and malt. Light-bodied with a mildly bitter herbal hops character with some sweet malt and fruit in the background. The finish is lightly hoppy with a short fruity aftertaste. Decent for the style.

Loved it! Good solid german lager, just wished they had a distributor around here...

Draft at brewery: I suppose this one would make a good stepping-stone beer for A-B MillerCoors drinkers. It’s light and clean with only a hint of bitterness. It’s also crisply carbonated, making it refreshing and easy to quaff. Other than some faint flavors of bread and toast, it’s pretty muted and non-palate-challenging. Perfect for tourists in search of something like Bud, etc., I suppose.
