Backlogged rating: Near opaque with a frothy head and good lace. The aroma has notes of pine, herbs, mint, grapefruit, pear, roast, roast, coffee, tobacco and leather. Reminds me more of a Blackened IPA on the nose than a stout... but the taste has a nice roasted and toasted malt overtone with chocolate and crystal sweetness. Coffee and charred bitterness with rounded earthy elements. The hops character is much more subdued on the palate than the nose. The mouth feel is smooth yet a slight bite around the edges, more body than the coffee version this day. I like this but did wish for a tad more citrus notes.
