On tap at brewery. Not picking up sweet at all, must just be in name only. Slick, dark, dry bitterness. Oily texture, some sweetness near the end, but pretty much a straight up porter. maltman53 (472) - Corrales, New Mexico, USA - JAN 18, 2014
Tap @ Brewery: Pours midnight black with a nice, lacy tan head. Perfect CO2. Deep dark base and roasted malts with a bitter chocolate aroma and palate. A beautifully balanced beer. ketchepillar (1199) - Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA - JAN 31, 2012
On tap at the location on Central. Grainy, black patent. A bit of fresh fruit, but very little really. Nice malt profile. Somewhat messy though. LilBeerDoctor (4032) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 11, 2012
On tap at IVBC. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, lots of chocolate, maybe some oak. Flavor of sweet malt, roast, light piney hops in the finish, earthy notes. Definitely sweet than I expected from the aroma. Flavor is more complex than I can depict here. Interesting stout and quite good!

UPDATED: DEC 24, 2011 Draft @ brewery tap canteen. Black with scant head. Mellow coffee and chocolate in a simple aroma. Flavors better with wonderful balance of tasty roast and smooth chocolate....Again as part of Solstice blackout sampler...Opaque dark brown. Chocolate creamy aroma. Fudgy but mild like ovaltine. Light palate. Fruit in the finish adds balancing acidity. Soft. Finishes with a complex array of chocolate and wine and wood tannin dryness. 3,7,3,8,15 very nice DuffMan (10549) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 26, 2008

On tap at brewery in Albuquerque.
Black, almost totally opaque, thin brown head. Smells sweet, with chocolate and nuts. Taste has layers of honey, bitter chocolate, raisins, smoked malts, coffee, subtle citric hops. Yummy. Philip (436) - Illinois, USA - AUG 18, 2005
From a growler courtesy of Dan, who recently returned from NM. Notes of dark chocolate and cocoa on the nose meet roasted hazelnuts and dried currants on the palate. The sweetness is a bit striking as well, molasses and honey-like. A solid porter with a good character profile, but a bit thin of palate.
