[email protected] stand, riga main market (the ’brewpub’). Brown hazy. Molasses, brown sugar, light malty, bit lemony nose. Light, sweet, sugary flavour. Refreshing, a lot like finnish home-made sima- the brown sugar, texture, sweetness. Quite nice, refreshingly easy to drink.

Brown hazy with medium yellow head. Sweet malty aroma. Mostly sweet than sour taste fruity notes (raisin etc.).

suurjuust (3679) - ESTONIA - DEC 1, 2015
1,5l plastic bottle. Hazy dark brown, quickly dissipating head. Nose is caramel, bready and burned notes. Flavor is sweet and bready, but the mouthfeel has something nicely substantial to it. Sweet, but not overly so.

Vells (1894) - Rīga, LATVIA - AUG 11, 2015
Quite muddy, nice maltiness, bit toasty, intense bready with honey notes, raisins. Moderate sweet, quite light sweetness for kvass, bit sourish, but not unpleasant. Nice

Tap at Berliner Biermeile. Berliner Biermeile. Honey nose, light smoke. Dark red amber Medium body Sweet, straw and smoke, restrained junipers. A bit on the sweet side.

Marduk (8218) - Reval, ESTONIA - OCT 21, 2014
1,5L PET bottle. Hazy dark brown color. Brief bubbly brown head, stays as a ring. Burnt bread, sweet, touch of plastic in aroma. Bready roast, sweet, caramel in taste. Sweet body. Sweet and hint of cumin in aftertaste. Bit too sweet for real enjoyment.

Tap (Riga Market)
6 Sweet fruity caramel aroma, toffee, raisins.
3 Rich brown, but looks a bit like a muddy puddle. No significant head.
6 Fruity, pleanty of apple sharpness, and remarkably little in the way of raisins compared to most latter-day kvasses.
3 Refreshing palate. Crisp through sharpness rather than carbonation. Finish has loads of apple pie.
13 Very tasty fresh kvass, though still pretty sweet too, but I can forgive that.
