NickT (4) - Cheshire, - DEC 31, 2013
This was a bottle in a mixed case. After having some of the richer darker ales, this one seemed a little plain. It's a nice enough beer, but not special. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours clear, amber. Ring of white head. Aroma has hint of Christmas pie spices. Medium body. Surprisingly unsweet (but not bitter, either).

Cask @ The Blue Stoops, Dronfield. Spiced fruity aroma, good amber appearance for a winter ale. Taste spiced fruit and light malts. A good winter ale.

Bottle 50cl. poured into a Ilkley pint glass. Brilliant medium amber, good frothy off-white head, half-way lasting, light lacing; spicy nose, aroma toasted malts, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, bit caramel, wet hay; taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, light caramel, mild spicy; malty sweetbitter aftertaste, husky notes, lingering spices and caramel; light body, watery texture, soft carbonation; lacks body which is a pity.
