COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Olicana Pale English Hop Pale Ale 4.4% Our hop growers, Charles Faram, have been working to develop new hop varieties and grow aromatic new English hops. Hop #1391 has been exclusively released to Ilkley Brewery to trial brew with to identify its properties. We have named the hop ’Olicana’ in a nod to the Roman name for Ilkley, and have developed a Pale Ale that will showcase and sing about the new hop. Fresh and zingy, there are grapefruit notes and a soft yet crisp finish. This new beer will be available in limited supply from mid February, and will be showcased at SIBA Beer X in March.

(Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 23 April 2017) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with notes of citrus, grass and a touch of resin. Fruity, hoppy taste with citrus, lemon peel, resin, biscuity malt and a balanced citric bitterness. Medium body, quite dry. Tasty and refreshing. Nice one.

Cask at the Euston Tap, in the what used to be the Cider bar bit. Very low carbonation even for cask, maybe not perfectly in nick, yellowish gold, not much head. Quite clean malts, hops are interesting enough, some citrus, some hedgerow fruits, a little earthy. Didn’t blow me away, pleasant.

Gravicask (HBF2015, Helsinki)

Watery aroma first, then some popcorn. Rough dirty hops - tongue-scraping, and unclean. A messy hoppy beer. Finish is hoppy and popcorny. Sub-par.
