Can - Pours black with a creamy tan head. Nose is juicy citrus and pine hops that are overwhelmed a bit by the roasty malt. Taste has some more chocolate, medium roast, a little coffee, and more of the juicy hops. Finishes pretty roasty, along with some pine hops. Real thin in the mouth, with some light carbonation. A little roastier than I like my black IPAs, but still tasty. BeerBeforeH20 (129) - Minnesota, USA - APR 5, 2013
Pours a very deep brown, near black with a dark khaki head. Decent head retention with moderate lacing. Aroma is cascades, definitely dry hopped with cascades, and most likely brewed with the pacific northwest big C’s. Taste is a blend of dark roasts, caramel malts, and american hop finish. Really like this BIPA, and will replace my old favorite BIPA back in black as my go to. joergen (28177) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - APR 5, 2013

Can from Guerde. Pours black with a creamy light tan head. Aroma is a bit chocolate and smooth dark malt. Hop might be resin. Med body. Main flavor is resin followed by med dark chocolate. Fairly strong flavors. Finishes with a lot of hop bitter over a touch of sweet roast dark malt. Very different - very good. Thanks Andy. marcus (10231) - Sacramento, California, USA - APR 4, 2013
Can shared by bhensonb. Pours near black with a thick tan head and a chocolate and treacle aroma. There is a smooth toasted malt flavor with some dark chocolate and coffee and a bitter finish. A lot chalkier than a black ipa. This is an interesting and very tasty beer.

12 fl oz can. Pours pitch black with a thick brown head. Aroma is roasted malty and chocolate malty. Solid bitter, chocolate and light ashtrayish roasted malty. Bitter, light chalky, chocolate and dry bitter, towards grapefruity hoppy. Chocolate and solid bitter finish. Ungstrup (37677) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - APR 4, 2013
Can. A dark brown beer with a huge dark brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt and hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, chocolate, and hops, leading to a dry roasted and bitter finish. Thanks yespr for sharing. crowderm (382) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAR 28, 2013
Not a big fan of black IPAs, but this one is pretty good. Deep, dark pour. Aroma is a little scattered - bitter roast, dark chocolate, pine, citrus. Flavor is pretty similar, though a little more harmonious. The bitterness from the roast/hops combine to be pretty intense, but still manageable. Good creamy mouthfeel. Good brew. Beer #2 of the night is a very hoppy robust black IPA. Lots of flavor for a low ABV beer. Tons of roast and citrus rind hoppiness. Good stuff.
