12oz can pours a watery black with some creamy beige head. Nose is odd, whole wheat flour, dusty, a little meaty, some roast mushroom, some dark chocolate. Flavor is malty, some pepper, some mushroom, bread crust, a little cherry, molasses. Dry finish. So so. cards04 (2923) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - JAN 2, 2014
What a great beer. Bracing coffee and hop aromas. Nice sweet and bitter coffee and hops. One of the best black ipas I’ve had. bucs572000 (237) - Minnesota, USA - DEC 24, 2013
Poured from a 12oz can. Aroma is pine, caramel, and chocolate roast. Flavors are pine, chocolate, coffee, and caramel. Well balanced beer just right amount of hops and malt to make the beer very drinkable. Well done indeed! obguthr (6666) - Staunton, Virginia, USA - DEC 24, 2013
Can courtesy of TheHoff43: Hoppy charcoal and pine. Mahogany, medium tan head. Dry, char flavor with the bitterness coming more from the malt than hops. Hops are piney in nature, but really more in the background than anything. Medium body. A bit too dry for my taste. jcwattsrugger (12525) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - NOV 23, 2013
@RBSG-Minni–on tap-tight retaining tan-black. A-citrus/pine, dk malt-hint of molasses. T-pine hops, roast/cocoa-med/dk malt.

(12oz can) Pours a black body with a small brown head. Aroma of roasted grain, grass, chocolate, and caramel. Flavor of grass, roasted malt, chocolate, and grapefruit with a bitter finish. arminjewell (9720) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - NOV 14, 2013
Pour on tap at the brewery, dark brownish black pour with thin off white head, aroma brought big orange, lemon, grapefruit into a nice roast, coffee, chocolate middle, some nutty notes as well. Taste is a mix of toffee, caramel, into some orange, pine and grass, slight roast, coffee in there some cocoa powder, finishing bitter, dry. Tasty! Pours basically black with a good head & good lacing on the glass.eruizgarcia (360) - - NOV 2, 2013
The aroma is rich and roasty with a nice chocolaty character, and loads of mocha and coffee... such a nice malt character that the fruity hops sort of play second fiddle.
The flavor has a nice roastiness, a pleasant but low level of bitterness. & some dark chocolate. The beer keeps it plenty on the dry side and the hop character is nice, fruit forward... and again sort of pales in comparison to the nice roasty/stouty sorts of things going on here.
Not a great example of black IPA, but a really cool hoppy stout for real.
Poured from the can at Icehouse. Beautiful dark pour with a thick had. Aroma is roasted chocolate and coffee... Almost too roasted, tastes a bit burnt. Long bitter aftertaste. Good overall but could have used a bit more sweetness to balance the bitter roasted taste. Leighton (22327) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 18, 2013
Can shared at CBC Islington during the Ryan Tasting - many thanks to Ryan the Can Man. Pours brown with a big, frothy beige head. Good baking cocoa in here, rich pine, some toasty bread. A solid black IPA on the whole. Very drinkable, pretty dynamic.
