3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from South Lyndale Liquors (Minneapolis, Minnesota, 22/1/13)
Spices, resin, and earthy aromas. Pours a hazy dark red-brown color with a thick and frothy off-white head. Taste is slightly sweet and slightly tart, with a warm boozy finish. Medium bodied, thin texture, and a soft carbonation. Pretty good.
22oz bottle from my pal Chad. Poured at the Lakehouse. Reddish with white head. Christmas cookie, sweet, gingerbread and spices. Good stuff. ljthiessen (1348) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - DEC 31, 2015
Bottle. Clear amber-brown pour with a light tan head. Aroma is fruitcake, cardamom, honey and ginger. Taste is a little sweet, some honey and ginger as it warms. Not a great winter spice beer, but not awful. HopOi (1) - - DEC 26, 2015 does not count
Nice color, but this beer is all ginger. No complexity in aroma or taste. There’s a hint of maltiness, but the ginger is overpowering. Eat some raw ginger and save the money. jbruner (4745) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - DEC 12, 2015
Pours a deep copper from the bottle with thick tan head that dissipates to leave moderate lace. Aroma of woody smoke, earthy spice, and caramel malt. Taste is more toward the malt and spice, but light and easy, good balance. Really nice holiday spice. vikingguy (1103) - Carver, Minnesota, USA - DEC 11, 2015
Dark brownish red with thick foamy head. Aroma of ginger and fruit cake. Taste- spicy and sweet with rich toffee malt. Notes of orange zest and honey and ginger. More fruit cake and a touch of cloves on the back end. Quality Christmas ale.

On tap at Pizza Luce. Dark amber pour, thin head. Strong and pleasant ginger aroma, a hint of spice and solid malt sweetness throughout. Perfectly balanced, medium body, nice lacing. Mild ginger aftertaste. Delicious, one of the best winter warmers I've tasted to date.

Clear reddened amber; the tepid appearance creates an early perception that this is weak and too thin. Gingerbread cookie, molasses, seared pineapple in the aroma. This ultimately lacks depth, but there’s an interesting development that takes place when the initially earthy, almost spruce like ginger root character reveals its pleasantly startling, unique spiciness. The flavor is all ginger and needles, supported by bland caramel, some brown banana and some soggy, leafy earthiness. The malt makeup here doesn’t match up well with the alcohol level, and this can expose some medicinal qualities. Thin palate causes the pressure of sugars to feel more intense than it ought to. The fresh ginger is the saving element for me here, to a point.
