4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at the Houston Flying Saucer. Slightly hazy, sort of a blonde color with ruby tinges... Guess that’d be strawberry blonde. A small off-white head sits on top. The nose is very soft and delicate overall, with some light floral tones, some orange zest, and a little sweetness. The flavor is moderately sweet overall, though not cloying by any means. A layer of spicy tones underly a soft body of malt and honey sweetness. Smooth palate, with just enough weight. Very drinkable. A pleasant and successful experiment from Independence. I’m a big fan of meads, and it’s always interesting to see what happens when they’re combined with beer.
On tap at Texas Beerfest. Pours a cloudy orange with a small frothy off white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is wheat and yeast. Thin mouthfeel with a wheat and crisp finish. Easy to drink a very good Mead from Independence. SudsMcDuff (8429) - .....Manchester United.........., Texas, USA - FEB 8, 2012

GABF 2011, listed as Brewluminati Braggot. Clear light gold with a fading white head. Aroma of British honey malt, British toffee, and dry floral bitterness. Flavor is a little light on the honey, and is a little light overall, though the strength is high. Really malty and very sweet, with very subdued bitterness. Hop profile is mostly floral, but there are notes of herbalness and spicy as well.

Growler thanks to mar. Pours with a clear golden body and a fading white head. Aromas of apple, grain, wheat, florals, and citrus honey notes.
