COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Power & Light tastes just right! A simplified version of our original Pale Ale, which took home a 2014 Good Food Award, Power & Light Pale is a crisp, hoppy and refreshing American pale ale.

Power & Light Pale has a slightly lower ABV than it had been, making it even more drinkable. We adjusted the malt by adding pilsen malt, which produces a very crisp finish. We also toned back the hops a little, using Cascade hops to give a pleasant hoppy aroma and flavor that does not overpower the beer.

The name and design was inspired by the iconic Seaholm plant. “As a longtime Austinite, I have always loved the Seaholm plant,” says co-founder Amy Cartwright. “When it was functional it was one of the most important places in Austin, almost acting as the ‘heart of the city’. I believe that we should always find ways to embrace history without forgetting the past and make it our own, which is why we were so inspired by this iconic building.”

I could drink a beer or two before even getting this into a glass. Head is extremely large, 14 fingers, I don’t have any way to measure. It’s part soapy (around the edges) and the rest is like the ice cream part of a float (middle.). I’m not sure how to rate all of this. Now that I’ve got it in a glass, I’m almost compelled to stick a straw and spoon into it.

So the head is off white color. Great retention. Lacing sort of slides down the glass. Odd. A little cloudy. Yellowish.

Aroma is pretty light. Light grassy hops. Citrus peel.

Taste is malty. Slightly bitter. Maybe a touch of mint. Light grassy hops. Lager-ish..

Mouthfeel is light to medium. Dry, clean. Drinkable. Carbonated just right.

Overall, it’s drinkable, but not flavorful. There is a nice clump of head left at the bottom. I probably would not buy it again. Would not recommend.

Tap at Banger’s, Austin. Slightly hazy yellow color, small white head. Light fruity nose. Light-bodied. Citrusy, orange flavor. Very watery and light.

Clear pale golden. pale malty aroma with a touch of lemon and some pseudo light berry tones. Crisp and clean flavor that’s pale malty, a touch lagery and crisp, lightly hopped and lightly lemony. Not bad, crushable on a summers day but nothing terribly complex.

12 oz. can. Clear straw with a white head. High carbonation levels. Citrus and light malt aroma; very mild. Taste is lager-like, with fruit notes, metallic notes, grains, hints of skunk. Not good.
