This smooth rich dark southern German dobblebock is an Indian Wells Brewing Co. favorite. This 10.8% beer is powerful, but VERY easy to drink! This beer is not for the timid. A few of them and you’ll feel like you’ve had a frontal lobotomy the next day. Consume with caution!

12olz bottle picked up in New Orleans. Deep unfiltered brown-black. Rather mellow sweet mouthfeel, slightly doughy, some gingerbread. Nice steady thick beige head. Sweet cocoa banana notes, light fruity pungency. Quite enjoyable, not overwhelmingly sticky or strong. Not quite on the level of a World Class German, but quite OK. (I didnt know the ABV when I drank it, and clearly didn’t assume it was 10.8%)

Originally rated on 1/22/09. aroma of sweet caramel malts and some dark fruit. Black body, head fades quickly and doesnt leave much lace. Flavor is earthy, aftertaste is similar to mushrooms, also there is a slight sweetness to it. Alcohol is well hidden. Overall it was passable.

Poured from the bottle. Very dark with a hint of crimson. Thin head. Aroma is of black lager. Flavor is also like a black lager but more barrel or bourbon type flavor. Really good.

A decent bock, fine but basic. Pours a very nice see ruby red/black. Smells malty. Taste is cream and malt, with a hint of coconut and a smooth finish. Easy drinker for the alcohol percentage. Had in the bottle.

~Rich malty aroma of cocoa, bread, and caramel. ~Pours black with small wispy white head. ~Malty flavor of cocoa, bread, caramel, light roast. ~medium bodied, medium light CO2, clean smooth malty light roast finish. ~This is enjoyable, although unmemorable. Surprising that it is over 10% alc. Taste and smells more like a porter than a Doppelbock.

Bottle. Pours a deep dark black with bubbles and no head. Malt aroma, of brown sugar, a bit of roastiness. Taste is crisp and highly carbonated, of toasted malt mainly and some yeast. Hides the alcohol completely. Lingering crispness without much flavor. Very drinkable but not a lot going on.

Where and how: b. 355 ml
Aroma all about malt is this aroma. Dark rye bread feel. Clean execution.
Appearance :
Top: medium lighter tanned top.
Base: dark amber.
Palate : medium bodied with thinner walls.
Taste: plain bready malty experience. Toasty feel behind. Alcohol well covered creating pleasant warmth.
other notes refreshing change from Hop dominant world. Try at big Empty.

Pours no head on a dark brown body. The aroma is caramel candy. Nice. The taste starts mildly sweet with dark fruits, then turns sour to the end. The texture is crisp and fizzy. Not a good flavor profile.

Rated based on notes taken 28 May 2012 -- Picked this bottle up in San Antonio. I was pretty underwhelmed by this beer. Watery.

22 oz bottle. 12%. (Albertsons) Ridgecrest, CA.
Dark reddish brown colour with a small light tan head. Sweet malt, mild hops and some sugary notes in the aroma. The flavour is sweetness, malt, berries and some hoppy bitterness. The 12% is surprisingly well hidden. No alcohol flavour.

Nice solid bock. Surprisingly mellow flavor, but good maltiness. Hint -- for food pair, works well with spicy foods.
