3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep dark brown pour. Thin head. The nose is interesting - very earthy malt base. Lots of dark malt and some nice light bitterness. An earthy sort of flavour with light cocoa and some nice soft peppery character. Moderate bitterness but not a lot of hop flavour - it’s sort of a strong mild rather than a bitter but it’s nice.
June 6, 2015 - at Indie Alehouse, on draught. Brick red pour, smallish beige head. Like a bitter with Christmas cake overtones - sweet and floral, light alcohol, and candied fruits and coffee toffee - interesting! Taste follows, a little bitterness around the edges, and a bit more chocolate - still very fruity/floral, perhaps a little nutmeg? or is that just suggestiveness on my part: Average body and carbonation, fairly quick to finish but leaves a nice toasted malt and caramel aftertaste. Different for sure! robinvboyer (4779) - Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 24, 2015

Brown pour, with a small white head. Aroma is quite hoppy, but not uk hops. Subtle pine, with fresh grass. The malts are quite roasty, with a solid bready malt bill. Leaning more towards a brown ale.
On tap at the Indie Ale House. Pours a cloudy reddish brown with average-sized off-white head. Aroma is dark fruit, some caramel and a little spice/grass. Flavour also has dark fruit, chocolate, caramel and a little grassy/spicy hop character. Lighter bodied than I’d have expected. Solid. ametras (1751) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 17, 2015
On tap at the brewpub. Hazy copper with a frothy beige head. Flavors are chocolate, toasted cereals, nuts, honey, toffee with herbal and earthy notes. Light to medium body, moderate carbonation, smooth texture. blankboy (7833) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 5, 2013
Draught at the brewpub. Pours a very dark ruby-brown, almost black, with a small diminishing frothy off-white head and some minimal lacing. Mild aroma of caramel malt, dark fruit, hints of coffee and chocolate. Fruity flavour with caramel malt, coffee and chocolate notes. Average bodied. Nice and flavourful for a low abv beer, I enjoyed it. Lubiere (14182) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 4, 2013
