July 19, 2013 - at Bar Hop - on draught. Deep and slightly hazy amber-gold with a smallish creamy/foamy beige head. Pretty intense aroma - alcohol, bourbon, wildflowers - very malty, maybe a bit of maple. Taste ... yeah, bourbon - sweet delicate grain, not a ton of bitterness - pretty nice for a big sucker - and I pretty much loathe bourbon. Thick, astringent, increasingly boozy (sneaky!), not a ton of carbonation - plus de bourbon in the finish/aftertaste. [5594-20130719] Tap. Light fruity wood barrel booze aroma. Clear, dark amber body with a quick foamy off-white head. Sweet caramelized apple barrel flavour has a light buttered popcorn hint. Medium body. Interesting. (7/3/7/3/14) 3.4

On tap at Indie Alehouse.
Pours a clear caramel with a thin ring head.
Aroma is noticeable and boozy. Notes of vanilla, bread, caramel, dark fruits, and bourbon.
Taste starts out malt forward and finishes with bitter and alcohol.
Medium-full body with a low-medium carbonation. Slightly syrupy texture in the mouth with mildly bubbly mouth feel.
Overall big and full of flavour Would be great to sip on aroud a fire. Good job! Ontbeertaster (2362) - Ontario, CANADA - SEP 14, 2013
Tap at bar hop, pours a bit lighter then the usual barley wine, aroma had some of the bourbon, flavour was the sugary and bourbony, some vanillia notes as well, overall nice offering neongolden (1784) - Linköping, Sweden/Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 7, 2013
(Draught at the brewpub, Aug 31 2013) Poured a clear deep amber with a thin off-white head. Aroma has some bourbon up front but it’s fairly soft and restrained rather than in the face, vanilla and oak with a somewhat wine-like fruit character from the malt, light caramel and faint grain, and a relatively restrained bit of grassy hop resin. Flavour is sweet up front, a bit of tree fruit/grape in brown sugar character but fairly soft malt, bourbon is there but mostly restricted to vanilla and a bit of wood, while a nice helping of fresh grassy hops/resin kicks in mid-palate and along with the somewhat prominent booze, dries out the beer with a fairly subtle grain character from the wheat also there on the finish. Body full but silky-smooth, soft carbonation, alcohol heat. Fair amount of complexity, balance between barrel, hops and wheat malts nicely handled, drinkable given the booze. More restrained than a young US barleywine in style, the wheat and the ageing give this more of an aged barelywine feel. Good stuff.

Amazing. Everything about it is big, and in balance and somehow delicate. Huge carmel, bourbon vanilla and rich warm bite. This beer better be available in the winter! Sammy (12610) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 20, 2013
Very different between samples. Caramel sometime, coconut another, the third somewhat hoppy (maybe server intoxicated and gave wrong tap for that one?) still some citrus orange. Lace and brown. Drinkability good. jercraigs (10731) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 1, 2013
2013-07-19. Crisp dark amber body with a small beige head. 3+ Aroma is sweet, notes of lightly grainy wheat and malt below a healthy amount of sweet bourbon. Flavour is pretty big up front, sweet with lots of bourbon and mild woody accents. Medium to full bodied palate, soft carbonation. Pretty nice, rich, and just a bit heavy to be drinking it in the middle of a heat wave. I had a 2nd glass later that night at Indie which had more hop character in it and more fruity notes than the glass at Bar Hop. Solid, but its a sipper for me. Not a fan of barley wines, but oh my goodness, words cannot describe how incredible this one is, perhaps the richest flavour I have ever experienced. It doesn’t taste very malty, it is very mellow and soft, it feels like butter melting in your mouth. solidfunk (9363) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - JUL 24, 2013
Not at all bad. Pretty well-balanced and grows on me as the beer goes down. Very barrel heavy with apparent bourbon. Pours a deep red with great head and lacing. Aroma of wine, hops booze and caramel malt. Soft carbonation. Tap at barhop.
