Huge Bourbon but in balance and not ’hot’ but big. Great light notes come through, can taste the wood, bourbon, vanilla and brown ale base. Radek Kliber (7487) - Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), POLAND - APR 25, 2013
Unlike most barrel aged beers, not too woody or stale.

Aroma: bolder approach of blended chocolate, coffee with aromatic hop backing. Very American.8-
Appearance: poured dark brown, beige creamy top. Neat presentation. 4-
Palate / Taste: hefty with caramel front. Smooth with lower carbonation. Barrel treated with hop play reminded me of Firestone brews. Strong barley wine feel. Skilled brewing is apparent.
2013-03-10. Very dark brown near black body, modest tan head. 3++ Fairly interesting aroma of green hops light vegetation mild brown ale grains, oatmeal like notes. Second glass is sweeter and maltier on the nose. 7++ Flavour is similar - Lightly dusty oatmeal brown ale grains, modest hops and bitterness throughout, light fruit. Bourbon barrel character is quite mild, and the alcohol is near invisible! Very smooth average bodied palate suits it well. 3++ One of the only ones I went back for seconds of today, very nice. Chocolate brown pour. Not much foam a touch of beige. Nose is a little bourbon. Flavour is amazing. Bourbon is big but well melded with the dark ale flavours. Was not sure I was going to like this one but really really impressed!!!

A reddish brown ale with a thin light brown head. In aroma, beautiful bourbon barrel with caramel malt and British hops. In mouth, a nice caramel malt with woody bourbon notes, light licorice and smooth whiskey alcohol, very nice.

(Draught at Bryden’s, Toronto ON, June 20th 2013) Poured a chocolate brown with bubbly tan head atop it, big lace. Aroma has toasted malts, ashy, chocolate, vanilla, light barrel, bit of hops. Flavour has caramel malts, some moderate woody character, roast, bit of pine hops, good balance, not too sweet to start nor hoppy to finish, but rich and flavourful. Body is medium-full, booze is there but not overwhelming. Very solid collaborative ASA. mabel (9874) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 29, 2013
[5153-20130310] Tap. Roasted grains aroma, not a ton. Black body with a long-lasting creamy mocha head. Bitter roasted malt and lightly burnt wood in the flavour. Full body. Not a ton of bourbon but lots of dry wood, but it is pretty nicely balanced and very drinkable. (7/4/8+/4/16) 3.9 herrbrown1974 (427) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 12, 2013
(Dark Water Series 2013 @ Bar Hop, Toronto, ON)
On tap at bar hop. Cola black, almost no head. Light delicate carbonation. Fair sheet of lacing. Aroma is cigarette and ash, molasses, dark fruit, black cherry. Oily medium mouthfeel. Slightly bitter with a sweet undertone. Dry coffee finish. Complex but not as powerful as I expected it to be. Very nice. JoeMcPhee (9591) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 11, 2013
Deep brown pour. The aroma is nice. Lots of vanilla and some toasted barrel character. A touch of toffee and cocoa along with the toasted malt. There is a fairly assertive bitterness on the back. It’s pretty nice stuff. Gethinbeer (2452) - Nova Scotia, CANADA - APR 7, 2013
Deep amber pour with a nice head and clinging lace. Chocolate malt. slight liquorice, fruit and earthy notes. Tasty brew.
