This is a review of the 2011 edition of Canada day. The beer pours cloudy dark coppery colour with no head (as is the innis & gunn tradition). It smells vanilla with a hint of berries. The flavour is so complex I don’t know where to begin. The first detectable flavour is vanilla. Other obvious flavours are berries, plums and rum. Impressive stuff Metalchopz (3447) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 17, 2012
Purchased at the LCBO in a single box. Pours an amber colour with little transparent flakies floating around. Off-white head that stays a while and minimal lacing. A nice nose of fruits over caramel and butterscotch. No alcohol felt for a 8.3% ABV brew with no burning. Quite smooth and almost creamy-oily. Again, the caramel is in the taste with fruit, like raisins. I do not sense the bourbon barrels influence. Very easy to drink and nicely blended between the sweet sugars and the tasty fruits. msante79 (2225) - Mount Prospect, Illinois, USA - MAR 27, 2012
Bottle from ncmussel. Pours clear copper with a white head. Aromas of wood, vanilla, caramel, and some bready malts. Flavors of oak, caramel malts, dark fruit, and peat. Drinkable. gav12c (119) - Wollongong, AUSTRALIA - MAR 13, 2012
pours nice clear amber with a thin white head, smells beautiful with malty whiskey and smokey dark fruits. tase is heavy malt with lots of dark fruit and some smoke. finishes with a nice warmth in the throat. DerWeg (1695) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 25, 2012
Deep clear coppery color with fine bubbles and creamy cap. Aroma for miles, sweet and smooth complex caramelly malts and sweet meadow. Taste caramel and raisin and fruit and a bit of lemon citrus, a bit of vanilla - very heavy sweet finish but they packed in some serious flavor.

Bottled poured with hardly any head to speak of. The Aroma sports notes of rich caramel, vanilla, oaky wood and malt. The flavour profile shows well rounded malts and bourbon, vanilla sweetness, its nutty and delectable. thewolf (12710) - Kolding, DENMARK - JAN 9, 2012

Pours deep coppery amber with a small, creamy, off-white film head. Aroma has dry oak, caramel, sugar, vanilla, some floral notes. Medium to low carbonation, fat and oily mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet, fat caramel, light oak, some mild dryness, sugary. Kinda dry oaky finish. Fine, light warming finish.
2011 vintage, kept a half year old. Way too smooth. Easy drinking but very uninteresting. Rum and slightly hazy coloured body, a little creamy lace. rederic (3340) - montréal, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 14, 2011
330ml clear bottle, vintage 2011, clean copper-amber color, with a bubbly beige head, mild stewed apple, faint apple pie yeasty fruitiness, light vanilla oaky nose, with some candied dried raisin, toffee, biscuity, toasted, munich malt accents, with a mild spone toffee, sugar pie sweetness note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a sweet dried fruity, raisiny, toffee, good biscuity, toasted, caramelized, munich malt character, with some mild vanilla oaky, woody flavors, and a faint sponge toffee, sugar pie, kind of maple syrup backbone, with a light earthy english flowery hoppy undertone, leading towards a warmth, sweet toasted, biscuity maltines, toffeeish, dried raisin, vanilla oaky finish. reebtogi (6330) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 13, 2011
341ml bottle pours amber in color with a finger of white head that settles quickly leaveing only a few spots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel and whiskey with hints of oak and vanilla. Taste is a caramel malty sweetness with hints of whiskey and oak and an earthy hoppy bitter finish. Medium body and light carbonation. Overall, a pleasing ale but could use a bit more hops to better manage the malty sweetness.
