Clear dark amber beer, good cream coloured head. Light palate, crispy and a little dry. A little creamy malt with a toffee streak. A light touch of spice and some bubblegum ester buried underneath. Dried fruits and a trace of vanilla oak. Finishes smooth and semi dry. Well joined up and tasty. The only minus point is a little paper.
341 mL bottle at Jess’ cottage, served in a stem glass. Pours clear reddish-amber with virtually no head. The nose has lots of brown sugar and English malts, along with oak, Goldings and a slight amount of earth. The flavour is moderately sweet throughout with brown sugar, molasses, oak and subtle hops. The finish is long, smooth and woody. On the palate, it is medium in body with a smooth, milky texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a nice malty Scottish ale with smooth oaky notes. 2012-08-25 Viper666 (3287) - Richelieu, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 15, 2013
Bouteille 330ml. JRHBrew (367) - Fredericton, New Brunswick, CANADA - JAN 4, 2013
Works good with the east kent goldings. This beer is fantastic. I’ve enjoyed just about everything I’ve had with the innis and gunn name and this is just about the best douglas88 (9194) - Portland, Oregon, USA - DEC 26, 2012
12 ounce bottle. A boxing day brew! Pours a ruddy color with a small beige head. A sweet nose of berries. Toffee, caramel, light oak, more massive berries, strawberry and some light tartness. Finises with tobacco, sweet molasses. Pretty good.

pours almost clear medium dark golden with a small off-white cap, little retention, no lacing. fruity caramel malts, butter, few spicy notes along with bananas, blueberries (i know, odd), woody notes and too much vanilla. some sweetness. average carbonation, lightly boozy, decent earthy-grassy finish. linear and too much caramel and wood. still... o-k. Bottle from the LCBO. Pours a slightly cloudy medium brown with a bit of thin white head. Smell is quite sweet, caramel, banana, and raw sugar, kind of one note. Palate is on the lighter side of medium bodied and has decent carbonation. Taste is quite sweet with no hint of the barrel or any hops. Disappointing really. zimbo (961) - SCOTLAND - NOV 25, 2012
Bottle nose hints of cheeryade and when poured into an Innis & Gunn glass (which was given to me fee of charge...) it was brown oragne in colour with a decent magnolia head. Lots of clingng big bubbles aorunf the ijside of the glass.
Fizzy. Slick undercurrent of confected fruit to the taste and slight burr at the end but followed by more sweetness.
Not hideous but not good either. solidfunk (8964) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - NOV 16, 2012
Smells like vanilla and some oak in it. Caramelized malt. Pours clear orange with creamy head, decent lacing. Not bad for an Innis and Gunn, really. Actually pretty decent. A little sweet and a touch bitter. Bottle. StueyD (1583) - Heacham, Norfolk, ENGLAND - NOV 3, 2012
Mid to dark orange brown coloured beer with a weak white head. A bold woody nose, similar to that of a oak aged wine, alongside a distinctly sweet, buttery malt aroma, with the expected hints of vanilla and toffee. Dry but smooth mouthfeel. Dry, woody flavours with hazlenut, vanilla and the burnt, buttery toffee like elements from the aroma, this is accompanied by a bitter, dark fruit flavour. There is also a sweet, vegetal flavour in the finish, certainly not unpleasant, but it reminds me of a really well buttered sweet potato mash!
