COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We are pleased to present this special Innis & Gunn Oak Aged Beer bottled to celebrate Canada Day 2012.
Alongside ale malt we added Aromatic Barley Malt with imparts the beer’s rich toffee colour and satisfying maltiness. We used Goldings hops from 3 farms in East Kent to impart a delicate balancing bitterness and a fruity twist. We then slowly oak matured the beer to unlock the delicious flavours of vanilla and toffee locked inside the oak grain, only bottling it when we deemed it to have matured to perfection.

Bottle: Poured a clear dark golden color ale with a medium size foamy head with average retention and some light lacing. Aroma of vanilla and oak with sweet malt based and light sweet caramel malt notes. Taste is dominated by quite strong vanilla which borders on gross territory with some toffee and sweet caramel malt notes. Body is smooth with a creamy texture and good carbonation. Interesting but too much vanilla and a bit too sweet for its own good.

Pours a dark red colour, with a thick white head. Very Canadian looking! Smells highly of oak and dried cherries, almost in a funky, Belgian way. The taste is an oaky maltness, with a hint of sweet vanilla on the otherwise tart finish. Picked up a bottle on sale and I’m happy I did.

330 ml bottle. Pours a clear orange amber with a nice, resilient white head. Smell is oak and cherry. Taste is caramel, toffee, brown sugar, a touch of wood. Very sweet. Some subtle earthy bitterness, along with quite a bit of cherry and fruits. Wood is felt post-gulp. Light bodied. Excellent, very good beer!

330 ml bottle. Pours a dark clear copper color with light head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of malt and caramel with a hint of wood. Definite oakiness but not overbearing. Additional flavors of sweet toffee, roasted malts, and vanilla, just like the description. Very nice.

Bottle: 330ml
Aroma: oak ageing noted up front, clean malty backing, touch of vanilla, lsight mineral and meadow like hop notes.
Appearance: poured clear amber with auburn hue. Medium lighter tanned top.
Taste etc.: medium bodied with oily mid, thinner sides with oak-alcohol blend on top. Slight spice note, peppery caramel. Shorter finish. Decent.

Very strong ruby colour. The oak is quite strong on this one and I felt like I was drinking a whiskey. Alcohol certainly comes through amidst the sweetness... perhaps I should have aged it longer. Pretty good.
