COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We are pleased to present this special Innis & Gunn Oak Aged Beer bottled to celebrate Canada Day 2012.
Alongside ale malt we added Aromatic Barley Malt with imparts the beer’s rich toffee colour and satisfying maltiness. We used Goldings hops from 3 farms in East Kent to impart a delicate balancing bitterness and a fruity twist. We then slowly oak matured the beer to unlock the delicious flavours of vanilla and toffee locked inside the oak grain, only bottling it when we deemed it to have matured to perfection.

Bottle from Utobeer Market Stall. Dark reddish amber brown colour, not much head. Caramel malt aroma. Rum, vanilla & caramel flavour. Quite smooth with sweet aftertaste. Decent for this beer style.

Dark clear ruby pour, small white head. Really nice caramel, toffee, vanilla malt aroma. The hops are quite present and add a nice zesty hoppiness in the flavour. The finishis a little strong, the alcoholis quite evident. Th mouthfeel is a little thick and the carb is low. Overall, one of their better releases.

Gerbeer (3852) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 30, 2012
330 ml bottle. Pours a dark clear copper color with light head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of malt and caramel with a hint of wood. Definite oakiness but not overbearing. Additional flavors of sweet toffee, roasted malts, and vanilla, just like the description. Very nice.

330 ml bottle from LCBO, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. 14JN12.

App.: Deep copper with a full, reddish-tan head. Aroma: Fruity, earthy caramel/toffee, sweet, berries, a touch tangy, a little vinous, some light vanilla and wood notes, not bad. Palate: Medium body, soft-ish carbonation. Flav.: Much more wood here, slightly peppery, fruity, berry-like toffee/caramel, booze, Scotch-like (almost) or at least whiskey-like, certainly more assertive than the nose; dry with limited bitterness and a boozy, malty, slightly smokey finish.

Anything else? Rate.

330ml clear bottle from box. Deep clear amber colour with a creamy beige head that fades to a ring. Not much lace, the odd soapy bubble. Nose has EKG hops that give off some orange fruit, mild toffee malts. Taste starts with some sweet caramel malt and some orangey fruits again. Ends with light toffee, golden yellow sugar, nice vanilla/oak/wood to finish. A bit of pleasant warming alcohol, but nothing to get in the way. Body is light for the style, light carbonation, overall it drinks very easily. Enjoyed this quite a bit, would drink again.

Dark amber colour with frothy white head. Aroma of sweet malts, fruit, vanilla. Taste is malty and sweet, canada, some dry bitterness to finish. Nice beer.

I’m a sucker for I&G beers. I adore their aromas. Big butterscotch, whiskey and oak. Pours a ruby copper with a small off white top. Taste is a stinging oak driven toffee with sweet malt and whiskey overtones.

Bottle (clear glass, but kept in the gift box since I got it last year). Lovely red-copper-orange colour with a very faint haze and a small off-white head. Aroma of vanilla candy, sweet toffee, rye whisky and a hint of Cherry Coke. Rye is much more prominent in the flavour, along with bit of butterscotch toffee, and finishing notes of tart cherry and oak. Medium bodied with a mellow carbonation and soft finish. Quite nice, even with more than a year of aging on it.
