We are pleased to present this special Innis & Gunn Oak Aged Beer bottled to celebrate Canada Day 2012.
Alongside ale malt we added Aromatic Barley Malt with imparts the beers rich toffee colour and satisfying maltiness. We used Goldings hops from 3 farms in East Kent to impart a delicate balancing bitterness and a fruity twist. We then slowly oak matured the beer to unlock the delicious flavours of vanilla and toffee locked inside the oak grain, only bottling it when we deemed it to have matured to perfection.

330ml bottle. Poured a thick creamy head and has a dark amber colour. Somewhat apparent alcohol scent with a pretty strong aroma of vanilla. Same goes for the flavour, vanilla and milder roasted malts. Aftertaste is a bit bitter, not too offensive though. The box the bottle is housed in has abv of 7.7%, 2012 edition.

330 mL bottle. Pours a rich mahogany with a medium tan head, lots of lacing. Great on the nose, aromas of yeast, vanilla, rum, raisin, spice and toffee. Taste is big sweet malt in the forefront. Mellows out to a creamy woody finish, not a lot in the way of hops. Thick on the palate medium carbonation and full body, lots of texture. Another good special edition from I&G, now if only I had a steak and kidney pie to wash this down with.

bottle. Dark ruby pour, decent head. Aroma is toffee, vanilla, wood, some fruits. Taste is very sweet, unmistakable innis and gunn, more toffee, some pear, oak. Enjoyable, if a little too sweet.

Works good with the east kent goldings. This beer is fantastic. Ive enjoyed just about everything Ive had with the innis and gunn name and this is just about the best

Nice caramel tasting malt with a smoky oak aftertaste. Very well balanced but a bit on the mild side for this style of beer.

Bottle from the LCBO. Pours a slightly cloudy medium brown with a bit of thin white head. Smell is quite sweet, caramel, banana, and raw sugar, kind of one note. Palate is on the lighter side of medium bodied and has decent carbonation. Taste is quite sweet with no hint of the barrel or any hops. Disappointing really.

0.33l bottle from LCBO; comes in a box. Pours a transparent golden brown, with a small beige head that dissipates very quickly. Aroma: Malt, maple, toffee, hints of banana, caramel, very very sweet. Palate: Medium bodied, creamy, slightly syrupy. Smooth finish. Taste: Strong maple/toffee combination. Very very sweet. Less vanilla when compared to last year, I find. Still good, but not as good as I remembered it.

Pours a dark red colour, with a thick white head. Very Canadian looking! Smells highly of oak and dried cherries, almost in a funky, Belgian way. The taste is an oaky maltness, with a hint of sweet vanilla on the otherwise tart finish. Picked up a bottle on sale and Im happy I did.

330ml bottle. Enjoyed on July 1st (Canada Day). One of the nicest colours for a beer that I've seen. Gorgeous ruby-hued brown orange beer (Lovibond 27/28). 1/2" head settles to adequate lace. Aroma is mild but can't hide the high alcohol here. Taste is quite complex, not bad but not wholly pleasant. Seems confused and unbalanced. Maple sweetness, ascorbic alcoholic flavours, malty, some bitterness, with a predominantly syrupy sweet finish. Something not quite playing nice here. Worst part is the flat carbonation. Limp palate.
