The pour: a warm honey brown or amber in colour with a white head that dissipates to a ring. The aroma: Quite a bit more malt notes that typical of I&G, with strong notes of toffee and caramel, some faint notes of vanilla and woodiness round out the bouquet. The taste: a medium-heavy sweetness with syrupy mouth feel. Fairly well balanced but could of had a bit more bitterness, the alcohol did help bring everything together. The verdict: overall it would be worth while to stock up on a few bottles as the flavour is distinct and the beer smooth and easy-drinking. sergelutaba (67) - Alberta, CANADA - OCT 9, 2012
330 ml bottle. Pours a dark clear copper color with light head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of malt and caramel with a hint of wood. Definite oakiness but not overbearing. Additional flavors of sweet toffee, roasted malts, and vanilla, just like the description. Very nice. lupulist (348) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 27, 2012
Pours a dark red colour, with a thick white head. Very Canadian looking! Smells highly of oak and dried cherries, almost in a funky, Belgian way. The taste is an oaky maltness, with a hint of sweet vanilla on the otherwise tart finish. Picked up a bottle on sale and I’m happy I did. neuromatt (1225) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 23, 2013
341 mL bottle at Jess’ cottage, served in a stem glass. Pours clear reddish-amber with virtually no head. The nose has lots of brown sugar and English malts, along with oak, Goldings and a slight amount of earth. The flavour is moderately sweet throughout with brown sugar, molasses, oak and subtle hops. The finish is long, smooth and woody. On the palate, it is medium in body with a smooth, milky texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a nice malty Scottish ale with smooth oaky notes. 2012-08-25 Reimer96 (1743) - Alberta, CANADA - JAN 2, 2014
Pours a clear dark amber with a small white ring and no lacing. Aroma of vanilla, toffee, bourbon, allspice and dark dried fruits. Taste is caramel, bourbon, wood, camelized sugar and a nice spicy finish with some dried fruits. Finish is nice and dry and gives a well balanced flavor.

An improvement over the previous year which was also great. Clear copper pour with a medium tall off white head. Sweet aroma, caramel, oak, some vanilla. nice balanced body with caramel, oak, maple syrup, balanced by decent bitterness. northropfrye (3512) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - JUN 28, 2012

I’m a sucker for I&G beers. I adore their aromas. Big butterscotch, whiskey and oak. Pours a ruby copper with a small off white top. Taste is a stinging oak driven toffee with sweet malt and whiskey overtones. cards04 (2784) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - JUL 13, 2012
Really enjoyed this. Pours a dark reddish brown. Creamy head. Smells a bit funky, also some scotch, wood and caramel. Smooth and creamy palate. Boozy, caramel, woody flavours. Yum. madmitch76 (24360) - , Essex, ENGLAND - FEB 26, 2013

Clear dark amber beer, good cream coloured head. Light palate, crispy and a little dry. A little creamy malt with a toffee streak. A light touch of spice and some bubblegum ester buried underneath. Dried fruits and a trace of vanilla oak. Finishes smooth and semi dry. Well joined up and tasty. The only minus point is a little paper.
