COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We are pleased to present this special Innis & Gunn Oak Aged Beer bottled to celebrate Canada Day 2012.
Alongside ale malt we added Aromatic Barley Malt with imparts the beers rich toffee colour and satisfying maltiness. We used Goldings hops from 3 farms in East Kent to impart a delicate balancing bitterness and a fruity twist. We then slowly oak matured the beer to unlock the delicious flavours of vanilla and toffee locked inside the oak grain, only bottling it when we deemed it to have matured to perfection.

Appearance: poured clear amber with auburn hue. Medium lighter tanned top.
Taste etc.: medium bodied with oily mid, thinner sides with oak-alcohol blend on top. Slight spice note, peppery caramel. Shorter finish. Decent.

Pours a rich orange with small white head. Sweet oaky, vanilla, caramel, toffee notes. Very sweet, even for I&G! My preconceptions convince me theres maple syrup there, thats how sweet it is (and how boringly clichd my stereotypes are). Its got light malts, toast, oak, vanilla, caramel in the mouth. Interesting but not brilliant.

Pale amber pour with a tight white head. The aroma is a little bit toasty and slightly vanilaish. A soft sort of sweetness. Lightly malty with a touch of soft sweetness. Toffee and a little bit of spicy UKish hoppiness. Its a little bit fruity as well with a bit of apple and pear as well. Okay - if quite similar to many of the other I&G stuff Ive had.

Bottle from Utobeer Market Stall. Dark reddish amber brown colour, not much head. Caramel malt aroma. Rum, vanilla & caramel flavour. Quite smooth with sweet aftertaste. Decent for this beer style.

Very strong ruby colour. The oak is quite strong on this one and I felt like I was drinking a whiskey. Alcohol certainly comes through amidst the sweetness... perhaps I should have aged it longer. Pretty good.

Bottle: Poured a clear dark golden color ale with a medium size foamy head with average retention and some light lacing. Aroma of vanilla and oak with sweet malt based and light sweet caramel malt notes. Taste is dominated by quite strong vanilla which borders on gross territory with some toffee and sweet caramel malt notes. Body is smooth with a creamy texture and good carbonation. Interesting but too much vanilla and a bit too sweet for its own good.

Bottle from the LCBO. Pours a slightly cloudy medium brown with a bit of thin white head. Smell is quite sweet, caramel, banana, and raw sugar, kind of one note. Palate is on the lighter side of medium bodied and has decent carbonation. Taste is quite sweet with no hint of the barrel or any hops. Disappointing really.
