Bottle from Shipley Asda. Dark copper to chestnut coloured with a slim, just off-white head. Great complex aroma, thats making me salivate; sherry and vanilla hit you first, then whiskey and malts. Taste: I’d have to agree with the commercial description, pretty damned stunning; same elements as in the aroma but the whiskey is accentuated. Medium to full bodied, lightly carbonated, with a warming finish. Excellent. boltonmark (9) - Uppingham, ENGLAND - MAR 17, 2007 does not count
The initial gentle flavour of toffee is replaced with hint of whisky - a bit too strong - lovelly beer though andrewgrevell (2) - kettering, ENGLAND - DEC 30, 2005 does not count
definitely buy again. The aroma confirms that it was matured in oak aged barrels. Flavour has a hint of whiskey and it has a lovely gold colour. JRHBrew (367) - Fredericton, New Brunswick, CANADA - MAR 30, 2010
I adore all things Innis & Gunn. This one is particularly excellent. I enjoyed the nice sweetness paired with the crisp finish agibney (6) - South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - OCT 16, 2012 does not count
Enjoyed in the lovely Whiski bar in Edinburgh, only served in half-pints due to the percentage. Most enjoyable, not too strong a taste for a 7% beer. Actually quite light for a dark beer. Loved it.

Bottle from Asda. (Clear bottle but in a cardboard box) Reddish brown with rapidly dissipating head. This is a fabulous beer, much better than the standard I&G. Glorious aroma of sherry, oak, vanilla, tobacco leaf, raisin, whisky and alcohol. Medium mouthfeel. Tannic finish. World class. scotty (1209) - SCOTLAND - DEC 5, 2005
Beautiful dark gold-tawny colour...no head though. FANTASTIC rich malty/vanilla nose. Palate is big and absolutely packed with flavour. Rich, mellow, smooth and hints of fruit too! a very complex mouthful, quite dry for the strength, has a great lingering finish...wonderful! Asda, Edinburgh. n49921 (108) - USA - FEB 22, 2009
Bottle. Pours a clear amber with very little head. Aroma is malty with a hit of sherry or a little scotch. Taste a caramel malt that ends with a bit of scotch or sherry taste. Very good. kylechaney (10) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 25, 2012
Bottle poured into what looked like an oversized champagne flute. A truly different beer than I’ve.tried. strong strong smells of vanilla and oak. Tastes like vanilla, toffee, caramel and wood. Went down real easy. Would definitely order again. DocJitsu (1992) - Pensacola, Florida, USA - OCT 4, 2013
Pours a clear, rich, bourbon golden color with a short beige head. I hate when a pretend know it all about beer (at World of Beer) server pours my beer out of the bottle for me without asking. Aromas of toasty malt, sweet fruit, and hints of sassafras. Smooth, mellow, moderately thick mouthfeel. Mildly scrubby. Oaky vanilla up front. Sweet fruit, but not too sweet. Toasted malt adds to the lingering, yet mild sweetness. Very good beer.
