Like a sessionable whiskey. Fantastically smooth. Really like this one. Would take it home to mom if I was dating it. Heathen (1500) - Wilmington, Delaware, USA - JUN 19, 2014
THOUGHTS: Way better than I was expecting. A very uncommon set of flavors and aromas for a beer. Unusual and delicious. Alcohol was noticeable, but in a a good way. It ages nicely for at least a little while but the hop aroma drops off a bit if you do that.
TECHNICAL: Drank 2/24/2013. Bottle. Poured a clear, medium amber with nice carbonation and an average, off-white head that mostly diminished. The aroma contained heavy dark bread, toast, molasses and caramel; light citrus hops; wood; vanilla; alcohol; and whiskey. The initial flavor was moderately sweet and slightly acidic; while the finish was nearly heavily sweet and lightly bitter with a little longer than average duration. There was caramel molasses, maple syrup, vanilla, wood, whiskey, citrus hops, toast, dark bread, cake, and whiskey cake. The medium body was fairly oily with tingly carbonation and a lightly alcoholic finish. glfuller (2) - Florida, USA - JUN 20, 2012 does not count
wish it had a bit more body. SOur mash flavors come through and ballance well with the malt. really an exception beer. Grzesiek79 (4381) - Radom, POLAND - DEC 10, 2013
Piwo o koniakowo brandowym aromacie. Kolor pododny do koniaku z lekkim odcieniem czerwieni. Piwo to jest wytrawne z mocna koncowka i lekkim alkoholem. Wyczuwalne smaki pochodzace z aromatu amerykanskiego chmielu.
This isn’t as good as their rum cask in my opinion. It smells strongly like a pilsner almost, with lots of wheat. The flavor is slightly malty, oaky and bready with a tiny hint of hop.

11.2oz bottle. Clear glass, great label. Medium brown color, white foam. A touch of smoke, oak chips, loads of malt, nutty smell, hints of butter. Tastes sweet, nice caramel. HUGE OAK. A touch of smoke. A bit of burn in the finish. Happy 236th Birthday USA.

Pours a beautiful crystal clear amber with a minimal head. Aroma is caramel and thistle - a little spice as well. Flavor reminds me of a Twisted Thistle with some extra caramel flavors. The beer has that slightly astringent ’tea’ thing going on. Not bad and very easy to drink. Norton (333) - Southside, Richmond, Virginia, USA - NOV 11, 2012
Draft. Woah. Buttery mouth feel, pleasant bakery-like aroma. Beautiful orangish gold color. I love this. You actually do sense the "aged" in a barrell part, too. If you see this, try it. tbopslt (354) - New York, USA - MAR 31, 2013
Clear amber pour. Strong aroma of whiskey upon first opening. Hint of vanilla taste and slightly hopier tasting than most offerings from Innis and Gunn. Another hit from a great Brewery though:) jnolen (2) - bayville, New Jersey, USA - JUL 6, 2012 does not count
Lighter than other innis and gunn beers. Not much hop character, contrary to the statement on the packaging.
